......tiny, yapping dogs who won't shut the hell up? Those irritating little fuckers that just sit there screeching at you like their vocal chords are being slowly scraped by a sadistic dentist. Ugh.

People who know my Dixie Highway thread will know what I'm talking about.

I own a labrador / chihuahua mix (you read that right).

Basically he looks like a black lab puppy, but when he rolls over he has taco dog ears. He barks a lot, but isn't really yappy.

Image

When we took him in he had been abused by his original owner and kicked down the steps.

Image

Fortunately he recovered and is healthy and happy. Some of his friends met a far worse fate.

One of those yippy dogs lived in the apartment below mine when I worked nights in college. Every morning, when I was just about to drop off to sleep - he'd crank up. Drove me nuts!

I took my dog to PetSmart for a photo with Santa the other day. For some reason my 2 year old, 75 pound rottie didn't care for Santa at all. After much cajoling and me manhandling him, we finally got the picture. He then took a nice hot piss on Santa's leg for 4 or 5 seconds. It was a tad awkward.

Well I've kept terriers for years, Jack russels, Yorkshire terriers, I had a staffordshire, and up until this February I had a patterdale, she was 14 when I had her put to sleep. But she wasn't a yapper, none of my terriers have been.
Basically it's how you train them, but yes any dogs that yap continuously are a right royal pain in the arse!!

My dog used to breed German Shepherds, and my first dog when I left home was a labrador called John-the-Dog..
My others have been
Lucky
Bridie
Ozzy
And Jess -The-Mess

Our dogs when I was at Home were
Zenda, Tara, and Lex

Can you tell I like dogs :)

LOL the last part was funny.. The dog abuse is not.. The 1st dog I really loved we got by an accident..My aunt was on the edge of her land,10 acres..There was a marsh at the edge..She heard whimpering.. Long story short, she took him in and we ended up with him.. I was 10.. He was beaten and starving.. We nursed him back to health and loved him til he died..He was 10..He was only 1 or 2 when we got him.He slept on my bed every day til he died.. He was a Boxer, his name was Brutus .. I miss that boy more than words can describe.. I'm now on my 3 rd Boxer..He is loved equally.. If I ever find someone that abuses animals or in particular,DOGS.. I don't have words that describe what I would love to do to that person.. I hope Vick gets life.. Animals feel pain too... I'm not an activist by any means, nothing against hunters.. But abuse of any kind is unacceptable..!!

And unlike the photoshop joke, the abuse on this dog was real. He has a good home now though.

This was just before we took him in. His original owner kicked him down a flight of stairs and broke his paw in 2 places. He was 5 months old.

Here he is 2 months after getting his cast off at puppy pre-school.

I have a chihuahua (Foxy) and yes, he can be quite yippy sometimes, but he's a great watchdog (not guardog! :-) but watchdog in the fact that he hears everything. There's no way in hell someone could sneak up on me; he'd hear the footsteps 5 miles away and bark his ass off.

And Ed, I still might steal Raven when you're not looking!! He's THE sweetest dog :D

Poor little guy. You have a good heart. Glad he has a home with you.

That must have been some romantic liason between his mom and dad. A lab and a chihuahua...wow. He's cute though.
