Journey? - Let It Rock You - Perryville

Postby StoneCold » Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:48 am

I heard an unreleased song called Let It Rock You. It was hosted by Perryville. Sorry I don't have a link and I'm not sure they like their stuff linked.

To anyone that knows, was this a Journey or Perry solo song?

Let it Rock was a demo track for Raised on Radio. Guitar driven so I'm not sure if Cain played rhythm on it or if it was just Neal and Jackson with a drum machine.

"Let it Rock You" almost sounds like what I imagine Journey sounding like in the mid-80s had they continued with Rolie.

Those background vocals are VERY Greggish.

I think this song could've been a hit. Very catchy, I love it.

Steve sounds higher than ROR on this one. It seems like an older song, but this is the first I've heard of it and I'm just happy to hear it! :)

"Let It Rock" sounds like it was shortly before or after Street Talk was produced; his voice doesn't stick to the same lower, operatic register that it did in Frontiers. Perry adjusted his vocal technique to try to still climb the higher notes circa '84, if anyone pays attention.

Great song, though. One of my favorite unreleased demos. Schon and Cain's guitars are great, and Perry's "suck on this!" comment in the middle is a lol moment.

As for "Lost Angels", it is the best Perry solo song (followed by "Captured By the Moment"). In fact, I'll be honest with you, the cut material from the FtLoSM album is actually superior to most of the album. "Let Go" and "Somebody Somwhere" are rockin', like Lost Angels. It would have made the album even better than it already was ("Friends of Mine" is also pretty cool, you can get it on the rereleased Perry material).

I'll Be There is awesome! Thanks for the clip!

I've heard a boot of SP singing that song with Bon Jovi but the quality was terrible. I think it must've been recorded with a cell phone. :P
