I concur.

The Clinton Administration gave the Bush Administration massive amounts of information and told them Bin Laden would be their #1 policy concern, and yet Bush ignored - and never even read - all the documents and memos. Clinton did what he could.

That's our point. He "gave and told" info instead of doing what needed to be done.

If Gore had won the election ... 9/11 never would have happened.

You really think this? Why did al Qaeda bomb the WTC in Feb '93 after Clinton took office AND the USS Cole in Oct 2000 while Clinton was still president?

Yeah, that's nothing more than opinion. Though I might be tempted to say that if Gore had been President during 9/11, there would have been no ousting of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Maybe a few cruise missles fired at some sand dunes or deserted warehouses.

I'll tell you one thing. I am NOT a Hillary supporter, and I'll tell you why.

Remember the Universal Health Care Initiative she spearheaded in the early 90's? Now, granted, the GOP Congress shot it down, BUT...

Only two current senators (out of 100, mind you) receive MORE campaign contributions from HMO's than she does. So she has sold herself out to the highest bidder, and turned her back on her beliefs. Under no circumstances will she, if she becomes President, bring up the UHCI again.

The Clinton Administration gave the Bush Administration massive amounts of information and told them Bin Laden would be their #1 policy concern, and yet Bush ignored - and never even read - all the documents and memos. Clinton did what he could. Bush did NOTHING. 9/11 occurred as a consequence of his ignorance and his anti-Muslim rhetoric and foreign policy. If Gore had won the election - which Bush only won dubiously at best, and criminally at worst - 9/11 never would have happened. Nor would the war in Iraq have occurred. The economy would be stable and prosperous, and the environment would be cared for. But at least Bush, by killing a half million Iraqis, managed to lower gas prices. We got that, at least. Oh, and the rich have gotten MUCH richer. And families cannot survive on two full-time incomes anymore, as at least one parent has to take a part time job in over 40% of American households (compared to 12% under Clinton). But thank God gas prices went way down.

Sorry for the late response to this post, 7 Wishes, but there are a few things in your response that I don't agree with.
1) 9/11 was going to happen, no matter who was president at the time. The jihadists hate the American way of life. They want all non-believers to die. Period.
2) I have to give you the war in Iraq--that would not have happened if Al Gore were in office, and I think that's pretty obvious.
3) The economy would not be stable and prosperous if Al Gore had won in 2000. The stock market frenzy and Internet boom of the 1990s was coming to an end no matter what. Even if 9/11 hadn't happened, we couldn't have kept up that pace. All good things must come to an end.
4) I don't get how you can say that the environment would be cared for. How many people in the US are REALLY willing to give up their modern conveniences--their gas-guzzling SUVs, bottled water, etc. Most Americans are too lazy to put the needs of the environment above their own wants. How many new parents will give up disposable diapers to help the environment? What about the environmental catastrophies that are happening in other countries? Can the US president really influence countries like China about their environmental policies?
5) I guarantee that we will NEVER have universal healthcare in the US. The drug and insurance lobbies are WAY too powerful. Believe me, they have both parties in their pockets. Honestly, I wouldn't want it. I'm sure the Brits can speak to this better than I can, but my family in England isn't always happy with their health care system. If they want to see a doctor without waiting forever (if it's not life-threatening) they have to go private. Many of the specialists that are quality doctors (not completely overworked) are private doctors. So people have to pay an ungodly amount in taxes AND pay privately to see specialists.
6) Gas prices, in my opinion, are what they are for a couple of reasons: demand and the fact that we're beholden to the Saudis. If we could use less oil (drive less, drive economy cars), we would reduce the demand. I think most Americans are not interested in that. They don't want to be inconvenienced. If we did more of our own drilling, the prices would go down. We could find alternate forms of fuel. But once again, the oil industry is a powerful lobby.
7) Seriously, why can't families "survive" on two full-time incomes? I think it's because we've become a society of people who must have everything NOW. We don't save up for things anymore. We want it; we buy it. We buy houses we can't afford because we have to have the biggest house. We have to have the latest clothes, cell phones, tvs, etc. Put it all on the credit card. Then when they really have something major come up, it's the straw that breaks the camel's back. My parents didn't even HAVE a credit card until the 1970s. When they got one, it was for emergency use only. If you didn't have the money for something, you had to WAIT and SAVE. I never got Mommy's credit card to go shopping. I think a lot of people do not live within their means, and that is not influenced by who is sitting in the oval office.

I'll get off my soapbox now. :)

Haha! From interviews! Was it you that traded interview links with me a few weeks back in one of my Dokken threads? I pulled a few from that interview, and just discovered another very revealing one yesterday, hence the new quote. If you Google the text from that quote, you should find the interview. Great reading, and you can hear all about how the band plotted to overthrow Don for a better and younger singer... haha! :P

He also mentions the horrible Monsters of Rock tour right before they split the first time, and how George kept his back turned to the audience the whole time. I remember that vividly!

Hey, dude, even better, I just discovered a George Lynch KNAC interview that was done after that one with Don. They ask him for his take on a lot of the things Don said, and it's hilarious! Definitely two sides to the story:

http://www.knac.com/article.asp?ArticleID=3432

Plus, they specifically ask him about the Monsters of Rock back turning incident:

KNAC.COM: Do you recall performing for a whole show with your back to the audience?
LYNCH: Oh, I’m sure I did. [Laughs] Uh, I was just confused. I didn’t know which way to look.

my next door neighbor is from iraq.i have just now started chatting with him from time to time.at first i was weary but then i started being friendly and having little discussions.he said before bush everything was good and that george bush has managed to get a whole world of people upset with each other over bullshit and lies.bush should've never messed with these people and went after fucking bin laden.he said the bushes are friends with a lot of these terorists like bin laden and its true on 9/11 he helped bin laden family leave america.my neighbor also said that we are being fed a lot of propaganda bullshit thats not true and bush should not be trusted.all these arabian people are actually not the enemy.

my neighbor also is a muslim but he said they only show them as fanatical crazy nutcases in the media.he said although he is muslim he never goes to church and he bought his kids christmas presents even though they don't celebrate it.the media puts way too much bullshit out there thats half true or not true at all.i still don't know the guy well but he seems nice to me and while he will never be my best friend or anything i'm starting to understand a lil better where he is coming from with things.even my best friend who has actually been in iraq since 2003 has said some things that didn't jive with what we are being force fed on the news so it just opens your eyes up a lil more.

i'm actually hoping clinton or whoever wins gets our guys out of that place over there and let them people figure their own problems out.we need to stop meddling in others affairs so much and worry about matters here at home.its funny how we spend all this money in iraq helping them get better and we are over here facing crises and rising gas prices among other things.hopefully bush reign of terror ends at the end of the year and we can go back to being america and being friendly with other nations and not be looked at as a bully in world affairs.
