"Oh, to be a fly on the wall for this power lunch at Gardunos Mexican
restaurant at the Palms on Monday: Rapper West; music producer and
"American Idol" judge Randy Jackson; Neal Schon from Journey; Hilton
exec Ken Ciancimino; legendary music producer Kevin Shirley; and Zoe
Thrall, director of the Studio at the Palms."

Things that make you go hummmmm...or maybe they happened to be at the same place at the same time.

They should have RJ as a guest bass player on a few songs off of the new album and open up AI as a promotional tool. Playing 2 songs with RJ on bass during AI would be killer exposure. As Dean said, they need to showcase to the world that they're serious about Arnel or it will be hard for us not to question their sincerity to this lineup. This might be a fabulous opportunity if AI would agree.

Oh yeah, that would be a sweet deal if they could pull it off. Randy has said on AI that he loved the guys from Journey.

Or maybe just replace Ross with Randy period.

Think about this (and this is a big what if!)...

Lets just say for the sake of arguement that they weren't there discussing Randy coming back to the band? What would that leave (if this was a business meeting)??? What if American Idol will have Journey as one of the featured acts on the next season? Surely it's crossed someone elses mind! Either that, or this was just one hell of a "Big-wig" lunch! Just a thought.

As I said on the other thread about this lunch hour, I fervently wish on all things holy that Jackson is re-joining Journey. ;)

Morons, as was said in the other Vegas lunch thread, Randy was in Vegas for AI. Neal is in Vegas because he is always in Vegas. Shirley was trolling for clam. The Hilton dude is in Vegas because well, he is the Hilton dude. RJ knows NS. NS and KS are pals. Jesus Christ, Randy is NOT rejoining Journey. Journey is NOT going on AI.

Dammit, sometimes you are all so fucking stupid!

Valory's the bassist, not going anywhere.

Can't believe anyone would support such a move unless it was a 'head reading another tea leaf: "He's Growing His Hair Long!!!!" "Randy's Replaced Ross Again!!!"

You wouldn't want a bass player in your band who is twice as good as the one you currently have? Randy easily crushes Ross.

I want JOURNEY'S bassist.

Not some dude playing superflous bass where it doesn't belong, sounding like DeBarge or some shit.

No I wouldn't and for the same reasons I'd still want Steve Smith there.
Ross Valory is part of the band I once loved.

Here's another scenario - Kevin was in Vegas to mix the new Journey record, and Neal met up with Randy to review the material, since Randy will be spending time with Arnel to help fine tune his image and develop a stage persona suitable for the upcoming Journey tour. That's Randy's bread and butter, and a big part of his role on AI. As for Kanye and the suits, well...maybe just an opportune time for them all to sit down and break bread. I've heard mention of some upcoming Journey venture in Vegas on the internet, but you know how internet rumors are...

If Kanye West opens for Journey, I'm out. (though I'm sure it would be the other way around  )

Well, since we're reading so much into a simple lunch...

Maybe they were discussing AP doing a guest spot on AI...by himself or some strange duet thing with KW.

Maybe they were talking about a new project with NS playing guitar for KW, KS recording/mixing, & RJ producing.

Maybe they all like carrots & cucumbers...and they were comparing backyard gardening notes.

later~
