i used to saw i wouldnt like a band unless the original singer was there.
journey van halen and ozzy have all replaced intrigal parts and continued to make great music.

The only one I could say I'd go see no matter what is Pink Floyd as long as Gilmore was still at the mic/guitar.

Reb Beach is one of the greatest hired hands I've ever heard. He seems to reinvigorate any band he plays with!

Ditto on that...Dokken had a big comeback with him in the band on the "Erase the Slate" album and he was great in Whitesnake as well.

Feeling CAN be subjective so I wouldn't say that.

I think feeling is very important, but that being said, I think intensity can be just as impressive and Reb has intensity in spades!

You can say what you like mate - any Ritchie fan is a friend of mine - i would WALK to a concert hall just to see Ritchie rock one more time. He is the reason i took up guitar and spent three years teaching it for a living - he is my holy grail.

Every notice that a lot of the shredders all kind of sound the same after awhile. Guitarists like Ritchie and Page & Beck etc. all had a VERY distinctive style AND sound. But then again, music from that era was very varied unlike most of the crap the record companies throw at us these days.

You are so right - can you imagine Beck or Clapton tryin to strike out now? They would maybe find a small niche - but, in their day people gave artists time and asked them to express themselves. Musically, we live in dark times. I wish American Idol and the X factor, would fuck off! Christ! Can you imagine if these shows had been around he last 50 years? There would have been no Dylan,Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, Patti Smith, Tom Petty, etc - it would have just been airbrushed shit............................having said all that tho, the bastards would have had no choice but to cream their pants when they heard Perry sing

Yeah, screw American Idol. I just see that Kathrine McFee lost her record deal. She only sold 300,000+ CD's. Record company said they didn't see her breaking through to the mainstream. Jesus, RUSH would never have had a chance these days. Record companies used to try to build their acts over time and usually gave an artist 3 albums or so to do it. Fuck em all. I know what I like and I'll find it without the record whores.

C'mon now. Wouldn't you see Spinal Tap even though every drummer they have had has blown up?
