Ever Since the World Began - Lock Up

Postby Eyeof » Thu May 10, 2007 4:05 am

Hey...on a real music note...

Anyone seen this movie and noticed that not only is JJ's version of the song featured in the ending credits, but that the song is featured in the music throughout the movie....it's pretty cool and yet it hasn't been talked about a lot...

And Vehicle is also in the movie....

I guess it's that Stallone Peterik connection? Not sure...

I can recall Frankie saying that he didn't even know how it ended up in the movie or how JJ re-recorded it for that....Maybe they talked about that, after he took him back?

Stallone and Peterik are, in fact, often confused with one another, due to their shared ancestral heritage, looks, physique, and hair color. Sly actually used Peterik's "wet hair throwback" move from the EOTT video in Rocky II and III. They often train together, although JP is quite a bit stronger.

Likely JP gave the clearance since Vehicle is in the movie as well.

That said, I prefer and vastly at that, the original version. Not much into JJ's inflections.

You may be right. I read in an article with Peterik that the song Alive on the new Kelly Keagy record was an idea for Rocky Balboa. I will try to dig up the article. Have you hear the song? It's damn good.

I'm a huge Stallone fan, so I went and saw Lock Up the day it came out in theaters.

I was shocked when I heard Vehicle playing, and was the blown-away when I heard ESTWB being sung by Jamo!

Yeah, I have the movie on video-tape, so I have heard many times the music from ESTWB being played thru-out the film.

I have always wanted to get a good CD copy of Jamo's version of the song!

Another one that I would like to get is the version of The Moment Of Truth that was used in the Karate Kid movie since it is a little different than what is on the Survivor CD's or original movie soundtrack.

Jamison's vocals are a little deeper on the version of "The Moment Of Truth" that was used in the movie. Plus, there are other little changes in the way that he sang certain words.

Frankie jokingly once told me he would never forgive Bill Conti for The Moment Of Truth. I don't think this was a favorite of the group. Did they ever actually play this in concert?

Back in the mid 90's when I was backstage at one of his shows I asked him to autograph my record covers of the 2 Target albums and the Cobra album. He did of course do that for me, but he said something like "If you want to sell me those I'll buy them." I smiled, and he said "Seriously, I don't have those."

He gave me his P.O box address back at that time, and I sent him a bunch of articles and recordings of things that he was on, and he said that he had never seen those things until I sent them to him.

I had gone to see "Lockup" in the theater when it was out. I remember that as soon as I heard some of the melody from ESTWB I was thinking "No, that's not Ever Since The World Began?" But then I was sure of it a minute later.

But then I was surprised to hear "Vehicle" and the Jamison version of ESTWB.

I saw a copy of "Lockup" on DVD back about 10 to 12 years ago, but I didn't have a DVD player at that time, so I didn't buy it, which I regret. I only have it on a VHS tape, and I taped it off of TV, so it doesn't sound good at all.

Thank you. But I already tried that same link that had been posted above, but I guess I need to sign up for meggaupload or something? One way or another I don't see a way of downloading those.

Maybe I'm an idiot? If so then can someone please explain to me how to download off of that site?

No need for sign up. You just have to type in the three digits they are showing in the top right corner. A new window will open and you have to wait 45 seconds and after that you can push the download button.

Ok, thanks! I'll try that tomorrow, or today, how ever you want to look at it. It's 4:56 AM my time, and I'm going to be going to bed for the "night" now.

of course...how could a hack like Bill Conti ever dream to write a song good enough for Frankie to play...

I hate to let him in on a secret, but it would have been about the best song on Reach...

I suggest you use one of your friends' computer (who has the latest xp or vista) and load it. Have you tried winzip? That might work. Its free for trial. Meanwhile, I remember earlier winzip was totally free. Just give a try. Go here: www.winzip.com

On 2nd thought, go here : http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Click on WINRAR 3.71 (located at top left )

Enjoy!

I don't think JJ cared for it too much either. Bill Conti is the best at scoring a movie but writing or producing a rock song? I don't think it was their best effort. Moment of Truth would have qualified at maybe the 7 best song on reach.
