TOTALLY canned.

Guess for the camera, they had to do that. :x

There'd be such a MASSIVE delay-echo, if it was sung live.....it'd all be shot to hell.

She did a good job....I would've liked a straight-read, tho....

Nora, I remember the year that Kathy Lee Gifford sang it she was asked in an interview if she had previously recorded it and she said that was standard procedure for the very reasons that you said.

I seem to remember there being a mini-scandal about Whitney Houston when she sang it (and knocked it out of the park, I might add) in '91. The same thing was reported then, Sherrie, as you just said. It is pre-recorded for a lot of reasons - not the least of which would be the dreaded "L" word for singers - laryngitis. I thought Miss Sparks pretty much knocked this one out of the park, too. Hope she has a long, successful career.

I would hope that they wouldnt tape something like that. Especially when you can bet on how long its going to last. Somebody would have to have made a little money if they already knew the length of it before she even started "singing".

Speaking of National Anthems, I wonder if Neal will continue to perform it at this year's concerts. I was kind of hoping that he'd go back to performing some other type of solo. Of course I know I'm going to take some heat for basically saying that I dont want to hear the National Anthem this year. Its just that he's very talented and I would love to hear him do something else.

I don't get the point of having someone lip-synch anything. Why the hell don't they just play a tape or video, if that's the case.
