Jeff in fact does these justice. Deen gets sick, no biggie.

Faithfully done in UK 2007

He shocked me and nailed the ballads at the Darien Lake show in Buffalo. I was blown away.

I love the way Jeff sang those songs. He didn't try to sound like Perry singing them, he just sang the hell out of them.

I must say that I was VERY impressed with the way Jeff hit the notes at the end of "Faithfully"! I didn't think Jeff quite had it in him to hit the end notes in that song! Augeri always struggled with those notes. I have always believed that is one of the toughest songs in the Journey catalog to pull off. As for "Open Arms"...That song sucks, regardless of who is singing it

I was reading in romper room yesterday and somebody made the comment that Jeff had "butchered the classics". Now I realized I might be a little biased, but with that thought in mind I sat here, closed my eyes, and listened...really listened to these. Can somebody please explain to me what the hell "Jeff's voice wasn't right for Journey" means because these people have to be hearing something (or not hearing something) that I am missing.......

Don't know either what they are hearing, but you can be sure they have lost some of their hearing as they age...after all some of them are approaching 60!
And they must be tone deaf too!!!!!
Jeff was great at doing the classics and a great frontman too!!!!!!
In a live setting he is even better than those youtube vids...

You should see the edited version...included a drive through at Taco Bell and a total of 45.65, backfiring Plymouth, yeast infected vaginas and chapped bare feet. Even I have some respect for horror limitations.

You mean un-edited right? Hey, I dug up your Jeff better than Perry comment in the other thread to jog your memory. You were obviously smashed during the show and when you wrote it.

Well yeah, smashed, and of course the closeness of the show had my emotion overrunning my logic. It was a great show. AR was with with me and it was a nice night. That's the night I popped my head behind the curtain during Lippards set, and guzzled a bottle of Sam Adams and the fans were pointing at me.. (It was Lippards beer too. Yes, I ripped it from their room)

Perry was the best, and what I should have said that night, was Jeff was pretty fuckin' good, and the crowd was very 1986 ish.

Nice find.

Naw, Journey T shirt.

Image

That guy in the background in the blue shirt...I drove his ass up the wall. Constantly bugging the shit out of him, going backstage at will, slurping DL's booze. Hahaha

Sweated like Shaquielle Oneal in a sauna, because it was so muggy and I popped about 10 vicodins.

Little did I know, I wouldn't be going to bed that night...partied all night and walked to the airport. Fuckin AR missed his Amtrak ride home..Doh!

Can't get into too much detail, but I do remember ditching Ross at the Hilton as the rest of us went downtown and got polluted beyond belief.

Those vids are just amazing. Perry I'm in,Augeri I'm out. Soto I was in and now not even a free buffet with free drinks could get me to go again. What was it with Jeff? Did he get too much fan attention ,did he want more money or is Journey just that damn stupid?

That Walmart would pay them a whole bunch of money for a ripoff of the GH with a Perry soundalike that they could pawn off on people as the real deal.
