Why would anybody who likes him have posted those?

To be honest, I've yet to hear a performance by him that shows me why he was ever chosen to replace Steve Perry.

I'm not impressed. His voice is showing it's strains here....and he's blowing the song (Higher Place) at about the 3:00 mark...sounds like Castronovo's doing more of the singing than Augeri is...

yikes... his voice is even cracking in the intro talk dialog. But how lame was that to start the show? Man, his voice is obviously already strained from the 1st song? I feel sorry for Steve in this video. He obviously is not comfortable from his facial movements, etc. This is hard to watch.

Sometimes I think they picked him over others 'cause his name was Steve and he sang well enough at the start. Kind of a throw in the face of Perry.

Not tryin to dis Augeri but he's not THAT much better than Chalfant.

I do like his singing on the cds though.

I got a DVD from 2003 from Irvine Ca,that will blow away any singer for Journey {other than Steve P in his prime} he was dead on that night,I wish he could have pulled it off everynight like he did that night.Steve A. was a good frontman, and made freinds with the audience. People can talk shit about him, but,If you meant him you knew what he was about.

Im not that good,it wasnt taped,go on guitars101 and look for it. He hit his prime in 2002 and the beginning of 2003 ,which was when the whores should have took their break,2004 was the breaking point, and 2005{most of it} was tapes I didnt know at the time, you know the deal.

i saw them in louisville ky in 97, one of only 2 us dates when the went to japan, the venue was horrible, but the band rocked harder than they had since 81, and steves voice was excellent
like him or not he helped the band continue, and we are still talking about them.

Wow, yeah, by 2005 his voice was shot. What do you expect running him out there 100+ times a year for what, 7 years in a row?

They didn't do quite 100+ shows per year. I put together a list of the number of shows for each year and though I don't remember the exact number of shows, it was probably around an average of 50-60 shows per year.
