Was he ever gone? Had he been slacking off on his creepiness??

The only place he lost me was when he started talking politics and said "I'm making the Smart Choice, and I'm looking forward to voting for her." I knew it was a Hillary reference, but only later realized that "Smart Choice" was one of her campaign slogans. That's ok, though... Geoff Tate could endorse Britney Spears for office and he'd still be cool!

Why doesn't Geoff Tate just endorse Geoff Tate??

I'd vote for a Tate/Dokken ticket any day

It would really be in the best interest of the country. I mean, what foreign dictator would ever think of tangling with Geoff Tate and Don Dokken? You think Don would think twice about nuking the hell out of Iran? I think not!

And here's the Lincoln Bedroom getting some good use...

Heck, we could even redo the Lincoln Memorial

You think Bruce "sucks ass" and Mick Jagger is the greatest front man ever? Dude, what are you smoking? Vocally speaking, Jagger couldn't carry Springsteen's jock! That said, I don't think Bruce is qualified to be in the "front man" category as he's a solo act, in spite of his E. Street Band!

John from Boston

Bruce Sucks Ass!

I'll second that! Most over-rated musician in the world...with the possible exception of Neil Young.

No way Bruce "sucks ass." Dude's phenomenal. Great songwriter and an adequate musician, puts on a hell of a show... and has several albums you'll be sure to find on any "top 500/1000/etc." list. Born to Run, Born in the U.S.A., The Rising, Nebraska.... all masterpieces.

Dig young Prog rocker handed down some love for the BOSS!!! I like you even MORE now, dude!!!

And btw- you're absolutely right...the Boss rules!

What does Walmart have to do with the environmental causes Henley has supported? He tried to protect a forest called Walden Woods and some wetlands near where he grew up. But Walmart had nothing to do with putting these places under threat.

Yes, his did write "End of the Innocence" about the death of small town America and mom and pop stores and so on - and then signed a multi-million dollar deal with Walmart twenty years later. So if he ever sang THAT song then there's definitely be a whiff of phoniness and hypocrisy to be sure.

But I'm not indulging in some teary-eyed fantasy that he's "working people's musician, their champion." (Even though Henley co-founded Recording Artists' Coalition to protect the rights of ordinary musicians, which is more than Springsteen has ever done for anyone.)

No, Don Henley is best known for writing authentic songs about his own life. His most famous song - Hotel California - is about the superstar rock lifestyle. And his best album - End of the Innocence - is all about mid-life crisis. And so on. I don't see him singing about working in a steel mill or any of that kind of crap.

Plus he is second only to Perry in having the most soulful voice in rock music. So I'd say - all in all - Henley is the real deal.

Matthew, I like you man but insinuating that Bruce hasn't done anything for anyone is FAR off the mark. Icould mention his work with Food Banks, 9/11 survivors, and Amnesty international, just to name a few. Question the man's vocal talent if you will, but NEVER his charity.

Steve Perry (1980-86) is IMO the best rock vocalist of all time, with emphasis on the arly 80's. Watch the Houston dvd and you'll see.

Diamond Dave - No so much for his vocal ability, but when you are in a band with Eddie Van Halen and people still know you are a bad dude, that my friends qualifies DLR in my book. He had SWAGGER.

Plant - The face/voice of perhaps the biggest Rock and Roll band in History.

JSS - Even from his Yngwie days he was a star.

Mercury - No question about it. Even if Queen isnt your thing, there is no denying that Freddie was glam personified.

Agreed!

Agreed!

Agree too!

I would add Mick Jagger to that list.I know,he is zilch vocally,he's ugly, but man you just can't take your eyes off of him.A charismatic front man for sure.

Sammy Hagar should be there too.He has a great voice and such an infectious energy on stage.
