I've suffered a lot of injuries over the years, playing sports, but this one is new for me! Can you say "FUCKING OWWWWWWW"?

We take testicular pain very seriously in the ER - it's an emergency and we get those guys medicated fast! If the ultrasound shows torsion, off to surgery they go. For women, the equivalent would be ovarian torsion. The testicle (or ovary) gets twisted and it cuts off the blood supply. Pain doesn't even begin to describe it! Usually it's teenagers that we see it in, not older guys.

We've seen teenagers at work with testicular torsion, & some slightly younger kids. Definite emergency, usually straight off to surgery.

Thank for the medical insight. I have to say that just the word "torsion" makes me wince a bit, and I don't even know what the hell it means  The guy had surgery, so this is obviously no lauging matter. I just had not personally ever heard of such an injury. I don't even want to know how something like this happens. I can tell you as someone who has been inadvertently "grazed" in the nether regions, that a slight trauma in that area is debilitating, so this poor bastard must have been writing in pain!

Had that happen to me when I was about 16, or so. This is more serious than you might think. They make you stand up for the x-ray/sonogram. I couldn't do it without passing out from the pain and 105-degree fever. If this doesn't get fixed ASAP, there are some very serious long-term consequences.

For me it was surgery, three days in the hospital, A LOT of post-op pain, and probably a solid month before I could stand or walk for any period of time. It also took a while before I could lift anything heavier than 10 lbs, or so. It also got me out of school for about two weeks.

As fate would have it, I ended up with a lower inguinal hernia some years later that needed fixing. That also put me on my ass for a few weeks but, the torsion was much more painful. Still, I've gone on to have four kids so, at least there were no long-term "functional" issues.

Funniest line in the whole artice: "Pie is expected to be out of the lineup for 3-5 days, presumably because he's rocking back and forth in the fetal position, sobbing."

Yup I would to!

How about the one below I would safely label it as "ass stunt gone wrong"? I know it's weird but I had to laugh my ass off the first time I saw it. What fucks home boy up even more at the end is when they splash his ass with vinegar, rubbing alcohol and freshly squeezed lemon juice.

I wish testicular torsion was contagious, then I'd send this guy to go play tonsil hockey with DarwinNebraska.
