New Song- "What It Takes To Win"

Postby E5C4P3 4 U » Thu Mar 13, 2008 8:17 am

Just read this in another thread, and that it was "tough" to get on the album. How was this found out, and is their anymore info on it?

The song was mentioned in the Jon Cain Radio interview. He said it was a sports homage and "it was tough to get on the record".

I remember reading somewhere that Open Arms almost never made it onto Escape, and thank god it did. :D Also, Only The Young and Ask The Lonely never made it on Frontiers, but they are very good songs. I still have hope for this track. :D

I'm hoping it's an 11-minute tune with three separate movements, marked with multiple key/time signature changes and abundant organ solos.

Too bad Open Arms made it. One of Journey's most obnoxious songs. On the flip side, OTY and ATL are criminal omissions from Frontiers

I'll settle for 3-4 minutes of great vocals, great harmonies and smokin guitar

Perry and Cain should be strung up by their nuts for writing that abortion of a song! Almost 30 years later, I still cringe EVERY time I hear that horror show! Cain didn't redeem himself with me, until be penned the brilliant and timeless "Faithfully"!

Sound's like a song Rush would do then. Queen came close to those expectations as well with Bohemian Rhapsody.

I've gotta go with T-Bone on this one! Those 8, 9 minute songs may be somewhat cool, but they're never gonna move cd's or get on the radio. Journey needs an album full of songs that are catchy with great vocals and serious guitars. They need to probably appeal to the casual fan though. JMHO.

Why? They aren't gonna get on the radio anyway. And even if one does, there would still be room for one song that stretches it's legs. It's not like ALL the songs need to be "for radio"...

Oh come on?! When Open Arms first came out, it was good and you all know it. How many got a girl to dance with you or better yet blow you because Of Perry and Cain? Huh? Think about it.

Faithfully is much better, but it is too serious. If you have a girl involved with that song, it is probably being played at your wedding!

As much as I can;t stand Open Arms, I agree with Deano. I was never a big fan of it, but it was "good" when it came out.

Anyone see Last American Virgin?
