OT: This Spouse gets MY Vote for President!

Postby Carlitto H@kk » Fri Mar 14, 2008 2:32 am

Well, since I riled up so many folks last week
with my "views" on the Great Puppy Scandal,
I thought I'd tarnish my good name some more 8)
This Chick Rocks!

Written by a Marine housewife in New Jersey to the New York Times

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started
by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?

Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally
murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our
nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible,
burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was 'desecrated' when
an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?...Well, I don't.
I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for
incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring
about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking
off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Iraq and Afghanistan
come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of
nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment
liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an
Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not
to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank:
I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat,
and fed 'special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that
his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:
I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and
other times 'Quran.' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and, you guessed it,
I don't care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends.
Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior!

If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter,
then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen
here in our great Country!

And may I add:

'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world.
But, the Marines don't have that problem.'
-- Ronald Reagan

One last thought for the day:
In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American
sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's Prime Minister
Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his
Parliament members why he believes so much in America, he said:
'A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want
in... And how many want out.'

Only four defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.
3. The British Soldier and
4. The Canadian Soldier

One died for your soul, the other 3 for your freedom.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET ALL OF THEM.
AMEN!

A-freakin'-MEN!

Thanks, Carl, that's the first time I've seen this.

My husband was a Marine from 1973 - 1977; once a Marine always a Marine.

And yeah, I need them on that wall and I WANT them on that wall (my favorite line in "A Few Good Men" even if Jack Nicholson did play a twit).

OK, I'll take a stab at it.
It is jingoistic and simplistic. It takes a complex problem such as terrorism and wraps it up in a nice easily digestible candy coating. Sort of a Red, White and Blue M&M. But that is all it takes to be patriotic these days. Send in $24.95 and we will send you your flag lapel pin, a certified copy of the pledge of allegience and your very own yellow ribbon magnet. Congratulations! YOU ARE A PATRIOT!!!

As of today, 3,987 American G.I.s and 175 British soldiers have died in Iraq. But they did not die for your freedom. I know, everyone wants to think that. And if you do, go for it. But, unless you consider movies like Invasion USA and Red Dawn as documentaries, our freedom is not at stake.

Your security and safety might be at stake. But that is the case every morning when your feet hit the floor. No one is afraid of the things that will probably kill them. Drunk drivers, iPod/Cell Phone text message juggling drivers, car jackers, mall killers, home invasion, lightning etc. etc. It is that fear of getting blow'd by those bad brown people that has you concerned. Killing people is not even the main goal of a terrorist. Sure, you get to kill a few infidels, but you scare the shit out of a whole lot of others and is is on every channel, every day for days. But that is STILL not the goal. The main goal of terrorism is to influence the society of the targeted people. If that is the case, then "Mission Accomplished," the terrorists have won. Ever since 9/11 this country has been ready to wet itself at the drop of a hat. Some building blows up somewhere and the first thing on everone's mind is "terra! terra!!!" The evil Mooslums are loose in the city!!! OMG, where is Jack Bauer and Chuck Norris? We are doomed!!!"

As a result of this we have turned into a "shoot first and ask questions later" character out of a bad cowboy movie. We have turned our back on the moral principles that founded this country and have allowed nothing more than irrational fear rule the way we as a country conduct ourselves. We are now OK with allowing the government to tap our phones, it is perfectly acceptable to detain an "enemy combatant" indefinitly, it is fine if we torture a few bad people. It works for Jack Bauer, it must be a good thing! War as a last resort? That is so 20th cerntury? Hell, let's go invade a country and start a war based on what amounts to have been a bluff. What does a half a trillion of borrowed dollars and 4,000 dead guys matter these days anyway? Not to mention those 80,000 dead Iraqi civilians. Obviously, not a damned thing. As long as Americans are safe to drive their H2s, watch American Idol and speculate on important issues like, "what Steve Perry is wearing today? We don't care.
