What's so wrong with them live? :?:

BORING BORING BORING...uncreative, and you won't hear a song you know until the encore.

If it's Kansas, I have absolutely no desire to watch it, but thanks anyway. I've suffered enough through five of their concets.

That's the early 80s version of Kansas with John Elefante on lead vocals, after Steve Walsh had departed over Kerry's more Christian-oriented lyrics at the time. Walsh even recorded a few vocals for the "Vinyl Confessions" album before leaving the band. John Elefante had a great voice back then and covered those Kansas tunes very well.

Dean, even YOU are smart enough to know, it's completely subjective. With the exception of a few songs, I DON"T LIKE BRUCE SPRINGSTTEN. Period. I'd never pay to see him in concert. If you can't get the stick out of your ass long enough to see the SMALL joking comment I made at the beginning of the post in this thread is MY OPINION, you don't belong here anymore!!

BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!!! ROCKS. back in January 1981 i spen 8 hours in line at hilton in Ames to buy tix for bruce... THAT SHOW WAS SO F***** amazing... nothing has
topped it really... During one of the songs towards the end of the concert the people in the baclcony seats did a train around the arena!!!! I think it was during darlington County?? .. he looked up and pointed all the wayaround the arena... the crowd went nuts! THREE hours and 40 minutes!! DUDE KICKS.. the Born in the USA tour was not even as good...

Kansas was my first show in 1977 so a special love of their music for me is at that time, you would just get high and listen to the music... i was 16 then... ;-)

MR gathering at the next local Kansas gig, anyone?

Where is "local" for you? I've been to four Kansas shows in Indiana/Michigan.

I've been to gigs in Indiana. I'm from southern Ohio. That's local enough for me!

Dude, where in S.Ohio? Kansas is playing Miami Meadows Park in July as is Loverboy. That's right outside of Cincy in Clermont County. Here's a linky poo.... http://www.miamitwp.org/midsummer/index.htm Maybe I'll see you there.

I'm in Ross County.

I just might have to hit that up. My old man's a big Loverboy fan and I think he digs poppy Kansas as well. Maybe I can persuade him to take a short trip this summer and check these babies out...

Cool, my son went to the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe a few years ago. Pretty country.

You might also catch Kansas in Ashland,Ky if that's closer to you than Cincinnati. Pollstar has the tour dates.

I might end up going to the workshop eventually... I'm highly considering it. My best friend's dad is one of the higher-ups there, and it'd be right up my alley.

Deano, you'd love my friend's dad. This December I hung out with just him, listening to Bruce and kicking it, talking about tunes. Dude's been to like ten Boss concerts, wants to take me sometime.

Yep- there IS no better live artist than the Boss. And I get to see him again next Sat! I'll all aflutter inside!!!

And btw- I saw Kansas open for STYX a few years back, and I thought they were quite good. I was amazed at -
a) How good Walsh's voice STILL sounds
and b) how many of the songs I actually DID know (Before the encore, we got Play the game, Fire with Fire, Hold on, Dust in the wind and Point of no Return.)

Deano's correct, however. No comparing these old dinosaurs to the E street band. Sorry, there's just no comparison (I talking to YOU too, Neal and Jon!!!)

Nice, but one problem. Darlington County was on Born in the USA and that came out in 1984, so what you saw was another tune, but hey, it's all good.

While I don't advocate murder...I just don't get the appeal AS A SINGER of Mr. Springsteen. I'll give you serious song writing props. But if I never hear him sing again...it will be too soon.

Yes Dean...I'm wearing my flame retardant clothing.

I'm not a huge Springsteen fan, but I love (and have) "Born in the USA", "Tunnel of Love" (stunning!) and "Human Touch".

Usually, I think "meh", but then he comes out with something great!

PS - anyone seen the Sesame Street song called "Born to Add" - hilarious and done to the tune of Born to Run! :D

Hey... Maybe we should turn her loose on Clear Channel, since they won't play Springsteen either. I think they might have just killed out oldest and most established rock station in town, as I flipped it on today and it's gone country. They are having a farewall party tonight with allllll the old D.J.'s. I should show up.
