Man, if I were a guitar/bass player in a prominent band, I'd be going for this in a heart beat. And I think I'd be in contact well-before the current tour just so I could play it on the current tour. I believe in promotion - the player, the band - I think that anything a concert-goer can take away from the total experience means more publicity and hopefully more revenue.

I remember seeing Rick Neilsen (Cheap Trick) playing a 'Beatles' guitar when they covered The Beatles during their show. And that was '84-ish, I think. Point being, just as the bass drums should be a moniker for the band, there's nothing wrong with using every inch of crowd-facing space to promote the band/tour. (That is, unless some legal thing prohibits it.) DC actually did this for one tour, and I think the drums had Christopher's artwork...kind of a military eagle/scarab.

One of the SA-era Journey DVDs has plain black drum heads. That was a waste. Why doesn't Jon Cain's piano today have a special paint job? (Wouldn't it be a great shot for the new DVD to have an overhead camera showing a big scarab of whatever flavor?) Why don't the backs of monitors or the forward edge of the stage show more Journey art, or at least advertise their official website? Yes, there's a point where it can become gawdy or perhaps too self-indulgent, but there's also a sophisticated median. And if the the stage design is to be plain & matte, then why not show some great artistic work on the instruments?

Ok, I'm rambling, but you get the idea.
Love your guitars!
