Journey, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Toto, Van Halen, Marillion, Boston, stuff like this, will probably still be getting spins.

I woulda thought Muse would be in there for you - some of their stuff is very good although i am not too keen on the vocals.

I'm relatively new to Muse, I haven't listened to them as long as I have the bands I listed above. Time will tell if they have as much staying power as the others. That said, as it stands now I thoroughly enjoy Muse, they are right up my alley and I look forward to hopefully many more albums from them!

If music keeps disinegrating as it has been the past ten years, YES!!! There will be no other choice! As long as I can keep up with whatever musical device or format they chose to put my favorite old albums on!

The music scene is much better now than it was starting in the early 90s and through the early part of this decade, that's for sure.

Then Seether and Hinder are probably more your style than Story of the Year and Taking Back Sunday. :)

Bingo! Music has NEVER disinegrated (even though my old man says so...back in the 60s!). Music is like energy. It's neither created nor destroyed, it only changes from one form to another. In fact, it's more like a gas. It just keeps expanding. However, it doesn't weaken as it expands, because there's you & me to keep breathing new life into it. And tomorrow, that new life will be a new idea. That's what's beautiful about music. It's life described & explained.

And a hundred yrs from now, what will that life's music be?

Don't think I'll live that long LOL, but if I do, definitely yes...and if the bands are still touring, I'll be in the front row with my walker.

i have an ipod (see how modern i am) with 3500 songs on it and 97% is from pre 1990/93 or so.
so yes i will still be listening to those songs, which will still be on classic rock radio, do you hear alot of pearl jam on the radio right now, i dont. and i doubt linkoln park and limp biscuit will see classic radio massive airplay, i can still go to any city and turn on the radio and hear boston within a couple of hours.

The main reason I think for me is I'm not as conservative as she is. I dont think I'd feel comfortable acting as my true self. I remember the first concert I went to. Richard Marx. She took me and when all the other girls tried to crowd closer up front, (this was in the days of festival seating) she wouldnt let me go. She also couldnt understand why people didnt just sit down.

Great topic scary and this question is even better.

First, I can't imagine not loving the sound of Steve Perry's voice regardless of my age. Unless of course age distorts my hearing.

I wouldn't take my mom to a concert because she's never been a music person. I got that from my dad and he's gone on.

Since I'm probably older than most of those you meant your question for maybe this will apply: As several posters on here know, my daughter accompanies me to concerts and related events because she's closer to the age of most of you and I'm the oldie. We have a great time.

As you know too, my daughter accompanies me to Journey concerts coz we both love Journey...and as you know, i'm a few years older than you...so i'm probably the oldest one on here and i will always love Steve Perry's voice.
Just like people of the generation before us still love Frank Sinatra and the big bands. Our love of certain music does not change with age...I'll only admit to 60+ and still go to concerts and rock with the rest of those young kids on here..LOL

Yes, it does! I have re-claimed my youth (53 this fall) re-discovering SP & Journey back in 2005. Hubby can't stand it, thinks I'm going through a mid-life crisis. And my teenage sons wonder why Mom is always in her room listening to that "old folks" music.

Damn straight I will, Ill be listening to new bands with the young kids as well.

As matter of fact Ill probably do what Ive been doing since age 16, going to concerts having a beer, eyeing up scores of girls and fruitlessly trying to get them show an interest in me. And I bet you right now they'll still all tell me to fuck off just like they've been doing for 21 years, :D only by that time it will be prefaced by "gramps" :D

I have a feeling I'll be volunteering to take my grandkids to concerts, as long as I like the music they're listening to! Otherwise my daughter will have to have her turn. I don't go to a lot of concerts now because parenting and work consume most of my time. I certainly planning on going to a lot more shows when my daughter is older.
