John Denver was the best. All he needed was his guitar. Its a shame He wrote that song for his wife then she ended up humping the pool guy, leaves him, shacks up with Hulio right In a house within view of Johns house. Then Denver has to die so young in a plane wreak. We were lucky to have such a performer even if only for a short time

Tragic for sure, but plenty of men cheat their wives out of a life too of course. Women cheat and leave, but
men go on to have another family and again and again. My ex now has 2 new families, he's been a crappy father
to all of them. Every woman he meets up with falls for whatever he says, don't they ever consider WHY the
others haven't worked out. You'd think they'd get a clue. I'm sure the woman he's with now will dump him
soon because she's figuring it out, the quicker the better.

Hope you are in a wonderful place John Denver, we miss you!!

Just John and his guitar in the Soviet Union

and

these were live performances I had never heard before.

What concert are these from.
Amazing versions of Calypso and Sunshine! I love them!

I hope all is going well with you.

That was great! The PMRC thought he was going to be on their side because he had the image of a sweet, country music artist...NOT!

Mr. Denver was far more complex than most knew about. He had his share of problems and was no saint, but I think the good far outweighed the bad. I think his
causes were just and I think he did the best he thought he could.

As much as Journey can be assholish, neither JY nort LG could play in that band.

Styx is the in the VP slot, or for you sports fans, the minor leagues, compared to Journey.

So nice isn't it to start a thread about an entertainer who most liked, only to have the unfortunate come around. While there is no love lost between the originatoe of this thread, I still think it was a very nice thing to post regarding John Denver. How unfortunate that it wound up not being about Mr. Denver, and instead turned into some sort of silly contest between 2 classic rock bands. Since this is a Journey forum, I'll be respectful and state that Journey has quite the legacy.

Well, I never cared for JD's music. Actually I become uncontrollably violent when I hear country music. I don't know what it is, it just triggers some sort of chemical reaction in me to want to break shit, especially the souce from where the country music is coming out of. I just want it to stop! Guess I need to see a shrink about this.

I can't stand it either. When I get in my wife's car, it's always on country or Elvis. I can handle Elvis in limited quantities, but country just plain sucks. I start talking to her and when she responds, I'll act like I can't hear her and turn down the radio.

SOME country is good...

...I used to listen to nothing but country in my younger ears. I've stopped listening to almost all country but a few bands and artists still pop up every now and then.

Alabama, Sawyer Brown, Rodney Crowell, Charlie Daniels Band, the Outlaw guys (Merle, Cash, Waylon, Willie, etc.), Pat Green, Steve Earle, Shelby Lynne, all good....

....I'll confess to massively digging Shania Twain for more than just her looks, too. 8)

Perhaps John should have taken the train instead of flying.

Simply following standard Pre-Flight Checklist routine would have done the same thing.

His engine stalled when the fuel ran out of the fuel pickup when he took off at a steep angle.

Cause? Low on Fuel. Pilot Error.

Sorry John, you should have checked the fuel.

His music is good driving music.

Yeah, that was the primary problem, but there was also the fact that when JD built his a/c had the fuel switch on the bulkhead behind him and on the up high side. The switch was to switch fuel tanks. The investigation into the crash revealed that when the fuel ran out, he had to take his sights off looking out of the plane and off of the controls in order to access the switch and manipulate it. In doing so and without power, the plane nose dived in a heart beat. So it was a combination of pilot and construction error.

And good driving music to me is either Pink Floyd "DSOTM", "The Wall", and even a good Cure Live concert on CD.
