Man, that is absolutely amazing!!! I can't believe anyone could have that good of a memory! I'm always blown away when stories like this pop up. A lot of these cases are with people who are handicapped in some way. I've seen 5 year olds who have Downs Syndrom that can play some of the most complicated pieces of music ever created. It's absolutely amazing!

God seems to bless people like that in different ways. I had a neighbor who lived in the house next-door to me when I was a kid who had Downs Syndrom (Hope I'm spelling that right!), and she was smart as hell! She never forgot any details in a conversation, and could bring it up again years later...she was NEVER wrong. Pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing that!

He's Autistic Savant, like "Rainman" right? I didn't hear any audio. It's neat what they can remember & duplicate...the Savants are uncommon, 'tho...majority of Autistics are in the range of normal intelligence. But, the thing is the Savants can't seem to create anything original...it's all copied. I have a nearly 7 yr. old Autistic girl who has the language of a 9 month old, low-functioning overall. She does seem to have an uncanny ability to notice when something different is brought into the house & charges right for it, very grabbing. She can barely scribble, can't dress herself, etc. I always get just a bit annoyed with these "wonder stories"...they are rare. Autism is a battle everyday for us...burnout.

Sorry to hear about your situation Tammy. I tip my hat to anyone who has a child who has special needs, as I know it's got to be extreemly challenging. I don't have a child in a situation like yours (and I'm not trying to offend here), but I don't understand why you would get annoyed by hearing "wonder stories". I think it's amazing to hear stories like that. Maybe your child has a hidden gift that hasn't come out yet?

Maybe I'd look at it differently if I were in your shoes? Again, not trying to offend you, just curious as to why?

I found that a year or so ago...very cool. I can look at something and draw it exactly and can draw from memory... but to have that kind of recall....thats amazing!

Jim, it's only because so many people tend to believe this is the case with every autistic...that they have some "hidden gift", or that they "bless your lives" "make you a better person"....I suppose until you live it on a stressful daily basis with the screaming, hand biting, body dropping, running through the house in the middle of the night several times, diapering, and a whole lot of other yucky things not shown, you lose your patience and those beliefs. That's the reality. If someone documented our lives they would see & want to run the other way. The divorce rate is high for families dealing with Autistic kids.
