Wow, man.
Remember when these guys were considered alternative/grunge/cutting edge? Every song off Core and Purple on the radio 12 times a day?

Now they're doing a nostalgia tour.

Eh fuckin men SJ. There was only one band worse than those fuckwits. Fuck the heroin addicted assholes in Nirvana and STP. If only Cobain would have killed himself a few years sooner good music would still be playing and no one would know who the fuck the STP's are. And fuck that squirrelly, little piss ant singer in STP too. VR were dumb asses picking him up in the first place. At least they got smart and shit canned that slimy freak.

Dude, Stone Temple Pilots are a decent band. Just because they were part of the movement that took our beloved Melodic Rock off the mainstream airwaves, doesn't mean they're bad at all. I'm not saying they're great, but they're good.

Also, a couple years ago I heard "Plush" in a block with Journey, Deep Purple, and the Stones on my local classic rock radio station.

Haven't listened to enough Nirvana or Pearl Jam to judge, but I LOVE Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, and Smashing Pumpkins.

Favorite Pearl Jam song is Even Flow, great live version on youtube. Alice in Chains, 3 Days Grace, Metallica, its all Rock & Roll to me.

Agreed.
And dare I say Core and Purp1e are essentia1 '90s records. Granted, that's coming from a dude who thinks musica1 progress peaked in '89 BBBUUUTTT.....

Even "4" in '99 was a quasi return to form. I'11 pass on the '96 and '01 records, though.

Other essential '90s records are the Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. GREAT material..

Not grunge, but I also love anything Rage Against The Machine puts out.

that picture describes how i felt back then when that alternative shit was polluting that air waves like crazy.i think i took a nap for about 6 years 1991-1997 until the whole thing slowly started to go away.i used to get into arguments with these alternabrats over if smashing pumpkins were better than bryan adams or journey.i think time and history showed us the answer, journey sold many more records and is on the radio way more often.

Agreed. I enjoy the Smashing Pumpkins immensely (Corgan's a sick musician and Chamberlin can beat some drums), but even when not using the sales/chart argument (which i always avoid).... Journey STILL smashes the Pumpkins' output.

i'll admit i liked a few nuggets of stuff here and there like smashing pumpkins melloncollie was a great double disc i liked even when it was first released.i also liked alice in chains too.but as a whole i didn't like the scene because all the good melodic stuff was overlooked in favor of some suicidal whiny shoegazers who were all the rage back then.when kiss reunited in 1996 and journey put out trial by fire i knew the good stuff was slowly coming back.
