I'm tired bro. Played basketball for five hours, came home to a massive seafood dinner.. I can't put too much thought into anything right now.

I'm surprised Rush and Scorpions were as low as they were on the album awards... great records... and where's Bruce?

That said, seems like Andrew has nothing but mad praise for this Anberlin band... I'll have to hit them up...

I love the MR awards... I buy records from at least 10 bands based on the awards alone, every year... looks like I'm gonna be another $150 in the hole, AT LEAST, thanks to the 'Bat this year.... haha, it's all good though.

Shame that Urban Tale were not mentioned anywere around the best album section (i dont think)

Good to see Magnum getting a few mentions, love them guys.

Haha, best use of a fog horn for POL definitly. I learnt to love it however. I dont no why but it became my favourite part of that song.

And quick edit to say that I think Scorpions should of been much higher really.

wow.. ok... i have really wanted to see the WORST OF .. completly agree.. that Peter Criss album was the worst of the bunch ..

it goes to show that even millions of dollars cant save bad writing.. for everyone that has ever said..,"ANYONE CAN SOUND GOOD IN A STUDIO!!" needs to never say that anymore..

i think there should be a DJ of the YEAR- Bob Coburn.. that guy can juice up anything .. he knows the album is horrid and can still find slick words to say otherwise,, how Peter Criss got on that show, with that album, is beyond me..

I love the horn. It was a major "WTF" moment the first time I heard the song, but then it immediately became a "WTG" (Way To Go) moment soon after...

You don't get a mention if you don't release an album. Their last was several years back now and the new one is still in development. I should know...I have the demos right here.

I AM REALLY suprised that Snakes & Arrows wasn't higher on the list. Shame really...'cause that was (IMO) the best to come out of '07.
Drew...it was short and sweet...but without a DHOTY...just kinda boring. GIVE THE TITLE TO ME.

I have tried fairly hard but just can't love the Album Of The Year yet.

Although, Reno DOES sound terrific.

Based on a lot of positive mentions in the YIR I will be getting REO's new album soon... Not doing the triple, just the one-off.

Andrrew, I respect you and your opinions and even your reviews, but.......did you even listen to Bruce's Magic? Had you, surely he would have at least been mentioned in your lists for album, song, whatever....

That was probably the best album of 2007. Radio Nowhere, Girls in their Summer Clothes, Long Walk Home...Devil's Arcade... the list is endless.

While I frenquenty incur a "slight stiffness coming on" throughout the day ( :D ), I must admit that this obsure cryptic remark sailed over even my dome.

Thankfully, too far away to be giving a wombat blowjobs!

I wouldn't say Bruce's album was the best of '07, (c'mon take off those Boss Goggles), but definitely deserved Top 20 merit, at least.

I don't listen to nearly a fraction of the amount of Melodic Rock that Andrew does in one year, so some of these lesser-known artists must really be packing a punch. That's why my pockets get emptied thanks to this gosh darn site. 8) I trust his opinion over most because he's been in the game for so long and knocked a few reviews out of the park.

That said... where the hell were Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater for best prog/metal releases... one incredible album (PT) and one solid release..

Whilst the DT album had great music, I felt the songs were just a bit flat and same old - same old. DT need to start writing SONGS again. Ala Images and Words, Scenes from a memory, and even Octavarium.

Gotta keep you guessing. Basic rule - killer songs = killer album, all styles aside. Gotta have killer songs.

And for the record - no way I'd rate Man In Motion above Big Life. Both are great records that I love...but Big Life RULES!

Thanks for including us in the Best Album of 2007 list Andrew - thats a hard job you have there. :D

I was pleasantly surprised to see Anberlin on your list. They've been playing the SXSW Musical Fest in Austin for years. I saw them 4 or 5 years ago put on probably the most energetic stage show I've ever seen.

They alternated between melodic and harsh screaming back then. I listened to your sample and they have really matured and refined the melodic aspect of their music. It made me curious to buy the CD and hear more.
