Dolly's OK, just not someone I ever listen to.

Performances - I liked Michael (the Aussie) and David C. (the rocker) - probably because I'd never before heard the songs they did. The rest of them - not so much.

The Aussie is the best singer by a long way - doesnt mean he will win tho.....

I'll probably be pissed if he doesn't, 'cause I do think he's the best. But I also really hope he doesn't win, otherwise he'll have to sing the awful 'written for American Idol' song and release some crappy album. He's better off being voted off early - hopefully the exposure will send him on his way to making a good record and having some success.

I have officially watched my obligatory one song of the season tonight... wah-hoo. LAME! After 23408459 years of this show, the contestants are getting less and less "yay". I liked this show better the first time it was on, you know... when it was "Star Search"... speaking of which, I remember watching David Archuleta on Star Search back in 03 or 04. He was like 2. Good kid, awkward teen.

Maybe...but I'm pretty sure that I never said a single word about the song you're touting. Whitney Houston had the pipes to pull that song off. That said, it didn't mean that I wanted to be slowly tortured, listening to Dolly Parton music for an hour! But alas, we move on. Top three will be Carly, the guy who was BRILLIANT on "Billie Jean", and Brooke White (although the little 17 year old might overtake Brooke with the little teeny bopper vote).

If you don't have a generic R & B voice you are screwed.

I last watched when Constantine got screwed by the show's producers. You know they would NEVER let a rock singer win their stupid R & B competition. Suddenly the next season they had "Rock Star Idol" to keep us rockers and our vastly superior (and much larger) instruments off their proverbial one-dimensional stage.

Constantine SUCKED. HORRIBLE singer and he just thought he was God's gift. I was glad when they canned him. Terrible.

As far as Rock singers, Daughtry has pretty much kicked ass since he was voted off. Where's Taylor Hicks? He sucked too.

I think the key word in this show is "Idol"- If all the little kids like them and want them on their next lunchbox, then that's what it's all about.

Ah, but you are wrong, young whippersnapper! David Archuleta has the Tiger Beat/16 Magazine vote - if HE wins, you see his face on every teen magazine in town for at least two years. That's about the longevity of a teen idol.

He has magic AND presence, you just have to be a girl between the ages of 11 - 14 to see it.
