That's great. :)

Before cd's, I was one of those obsessive compulsives with lp's. Buy it, record to cassette, never play the lp again.

Looked forward to buying some good cds and very proud of my collection.

I got my first CD player in 1987. It came with 5 CDs of my choosing. I got:

Boston - Boston
Aerosmith - Greatest Hits
Led Zeppelin - II

The other two I'm not as sure about. I think one was a Deep Purple GH CD, and the other may have been another Aerosmith or Led Zepp I.

Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms

I didn't even have a CD player because they were still around $700 but it was all digital (DDD) with extended songs not on the LP. I had to have it! I remember it well. Atfer that who knows. ;)

I lived in Japan from '88-'91, got my 1st cd there in '88, Hysteria. Singles were still kind of popular there then too, & they were cd's too, but about 50% smaller than a regular cd (like the size of those little DVD's for camcorders now), & they sold these discs that you put that little cd in so it would fit in a cd player & play. Those were kind of neat, never saw them here though, guess they didn't catch on much, lol.

I had a couple of those tiny little singles right after college when I got my first CD player, but you didn't see them in the stores too much or very often.. I used to think of them as my tiny little 45 records..

Forgot about U2. The first tape I got by them was Live under A Blood Red Sky. I think I was 6 or so.

My first album was "The Beatles Second Album"
My first single was "From Me to You" by the Beatles, but both these were on my 7th birthday.

In terms of buying:

First album: The Monkees (Mono from JC Penneys for $3.00 - LOL!)
First single: Mama Told Me Not to Come - Three Dog Night
First cassette: Frontiers - and I never hardly listened to it, and NEVER the "B" side - I only bought it because "that guy" had a good voice!
First CD: For the life of me I can't remember!!!!!!!!! By then it was probably Journey as I got into them just before the CD "revolution".
