SP Talks -- Feb 2007

Postby annie89509 » Sat May 03, 2008 2:51 pm

Seems some recent threads/posts are back to discussing/speculating on the condition of SP’s vocal cords. Someone referred to the BTM show of 2001 and UncleJoeB interviews of a few years ago. Even going back to his last Rockline show of 1999, I can agree we were hearing a raspy voiced Steve--one may even argue it’s damaged and not conducive to singing anything, let alone Journey songs.

The point I want to make is these were years ago. Nobody outside his inner circle of friends and colleagues have heard today’s Steve. The ones who have all say he sounds good.

I found an audio tape of Steve (the most recent that I know of) on some show called Ride On Music (?). It may or may not have been originally posted here. I know I saved it off the forum either here or at Perryville, last year. Here is a sample of Steve’s recent talking voice, listen for yourselves, sounds like 1983 Steve:

This is a condensed version of the show. Larry uploaded it to yousendit for me. If anyone wants to hear the whole show (2 parts, about 50 minutes total with songs), pm me your email, and I can send it to you as attachments.

His voice was very raspy around the BTM time, not sure what was going on with him vocally around then. :? But it wasn't any where near as raspy when I met him a couple years ago.
