But if someone didn't want to watch/read that, where would they find it?

Well, for starters they wouldn't have to Google hentai

And that is the entire point to the conversation!!

Well then there's your answer.
The reason you can't see our nips is that its a sacrifice for us to whip 'em out.

I suppose that comes back to why is it such a sacrifice. My thinking, and let's hope this makes headway into the issue, is that women have been made to feel way too many different things about it over time. At one time is was "Hey cover all that up and be a proper lady!" Then it was "Why you all covered up, baby? Show me dem tits!" Either way, it's demeaning.

Add to that the stereotypical male view... "if you aren't a perfect 36 C, then fucking put those away, no use for that."

At no point did anyone ever publically come out and give us all permission to be proud of a damn thing (except Rhiannon) and also assure us that the objectification would stop and that size didn't matter and that all the teasing, criticism and judgement would also stop.

So, I figure the more focus there is on these things, the longer it will remain a big taboo, something to stay covered and hidden for fear of controvery, comment, complaint, etc.

What does all this have to do with nipples? They happen to be guilty by proxy. They live on the breasts and breasts cause controversy. Its like when someone doesn't like you just because their friend doesn't like you.

In all fairness, then guys go through the same fears and objectifications with their flavor injectors.
Not only the risk of ridicule and rejection from women but the competitive notion all males seem to have about judgement of their yogurt pipes.

So I guess we're even. Either start bearing nips and peens, or just keep them all hidden. And we're back to square one. :P

Noted. Then when size stops mattering to guys, it can stop mattering to women too.
Two way street on the sex organs, my friends.

Parallel to the insecurities women have over whether they're too big, too small, not round enough, etc., and their competitive nature which is worsened by their jealousy (which is created by their insecurity... its a fucked up circle, to be sure). "That bitch, look at her tits, wonder how much she paid. If she so much as talks to my boyfriend I'll rip her lips off."

Not quite even. If you ask a guy to show you his penis, he'll do it before you can finish the sentence.

Weirdly, if you look at the letter Y...

(Y)

...it looks more female than male.
And... she's curvy!

This has been bjg's daily shrewd observation.

I think that may be exactly it. But that is such an antiquated notion. But "we" as a country have perpetuated that ideal for so long that it is too late to try and erase it.

See, now that is sort of funny to me. It is like the objectification of women in magazines. It is not the male audience that creates that expectation. All the men I know are fans of women and their womenly features...regardless of specifics. Sure, when you are a teen to 20's there is this search for beauty. but when it comes to breasts I don't think it is near as demanding. We truly do just worship them.

Now we are back to the big question. And although all you have said about breasts may be correct. The real "riddle" of the first post was 'why is it okay to see ALL of the breast EXCEPT the nipple?'

Not only can they not be shown bare - they can't even be shown under clothes.... I never understood is why nips get airbrushed/cloned out in catalogs, lingirie ads, etc. They even do that on the Playboy covers, of all things. But especially confusing is things like underwear ads. You're selling bras, which were made for breasts, which include nips.
They don't airbrush off the guys' packages in those ads. You are ALLOWED to see penii through the underwear, but not nips through a bra/bikini.

We know the nips are there, and they're covered by a bra/top/bikini anyway, so what's the bfd?

Personally, I want to see 'em. How do I know if I want the damn bra if I can't assess nipple visibility? Unfair.

Courtney Thorne-Smith on the show "According To Jim" has long nipples that poke out a lot. Anyway, after a few years of the show being on the air ABC ordered her to make sure that her nipples never poke out during filming of the show. Yet they have had about a million different scenes where the fat guy that plays the character Andy on the show is in speedos with his junk on display. They also had a scene where we were subjected to seeing Jim Bullushi's damn bare ass because he was wearing a kilt with no underwear on, and they intentionally had him spin so that the kilt flew up and exposed his ass.

What in the hell do they think it's gonna hurt if we see Courtney Thorne-Smith's nipples poking out?

Well the difference there is that they are "poking" fun with the male anatomy. The nipples are just a fact. Maybe if they do an episode ABOUT how long CTS' nipples are THEN it would be okay???? (sarcasm)

I'm talking stigma wise. Man nips compared to a (non-cantankerous) vagina is like the gates of Heaven.
And by reasoning, it is "special" and "awed". And if you could see anybody and everybody's anytime you wanted, then the awe and exclusivity of attraction is gone. It's just like that picture hanging in the hallway by the bathroom. What picture, you say? ...Exactly.

The end all, be all of the point to this question is mystery. What you don't see tantalizes your mind. Which is exactly why we have a 4 page long thread about nipples in less than a few hours.

Amd that is my point about the equal treatment of nipples. There would be no stigma or big deal if it was simply a natural thing...

As for the penis: I heard it described a LOND time ago in reference to movie ratings. You could have all the female nudity you wanted and the movie would be an "R" but if you put a dick in there it was "X" or "NC-17". When asked, the MPAA descriped the penis as an "aggressive" organ! But even that refers more to an antiquated notion that the man made all the decisions including sex.

Here's the deal though.

As long as a woman doesn't shave off all of her pubic hair, and as long as the camera is at a normal angle, your not going to see her vagina in a "full-frontal" nude scene. If a guy is shown full-frontal, then it really is full-frontal. In reality it's an extreme rarity that you ever truly see a vagina in a movie.

That depends which side of the penis you're on. If you're on the end that trying to stick it somewhere tight, not so much. If you're on the end that's about to be stuck...

But over the course of thousands of years women have been thought of as something to be kept hidden. So what we're dealing with in our times is a rapid liberation of sexual equality but not everything catches up at once.

Example: Think of all the drunk chicks in college who used to flash you. *WOOHOO*, right? Yeah, you loved it, but do you remember their faces/names? ...Now think of the first time you saw your wife naked. Much different memory. And most women want to be that latter memory. Erego, the nips and nookie stay hidden until we deem it a worthy occasion. MOST of the time.
