GH Live "After The Fall"

Postby TRAGChick » Sat May 17, 2008 8:58 am

Driving around in the rain today....felt like listenin' to some Journey....

Gotta say.....

ONE WORD:

the sustained "Fall" at the end, before Neal's outro solo:
he goes from "forced" to "falsetto" ..which is NOT easy to do.....for a GUY....

...and it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Go listen; I'll wait......

awesome underated song, as with troubled child on the b side.
It has been cool all of Perrys CDs w/ journey have had different sounds.
Seems like the new stuff is the same old stuff (with a few exceptions, especially RED 13.)

Agreed, awesome song........definitely my fave off of GH Live. Love Perry's vocal tone on that one.

Somebody on youtube has blended a studio and live version together. Pretty cool.

Easilly the best song on an otherwise kinda bland live album.
Far superior to the widely bootlegged Philly version, ATF redeems GHL for me.

Why does it have to be "Bob"? Why couldn't it be something cool like, Oh I don't know.......Jim?

The first time I ever heard ATF, honest, was watching GH dvd. Didn't care for the song. It must have been the cheesy video and why is SP letting out a scream like a madman?

Then, I got the frontiers cd, and heard the live version on various concert boots. It is one of my favorite songs now. Perfectly sung and perfectly played.

Can someone explain exactly what vibrato is?  I always thought it was his vocal tone that I liked in that song, maybe it is vibrato???

According to Webster---------a slightly tremulous effect imparted to vocal-or instrumental tone for added warmth and expressivness by slight and rapid variations in pitch----------there ya go Deb----hope that helps---- :)

Always felt like After The Fall and I'll Be Alright Without You deserve to go together as companion songs. Beautiful, both of em.
