The backing vocals sound like they were ripped straight from Be Good To Yourself.
And the drums are flat as usual. That's my biggest pet peeve. When is Deen's snare gonna get some crunchy pop & thunder? When are the toms going to get some full melodic definition? Deen is such a great drummer and he needs to have his talent showcased a little better than wet cardboard thumping in the background. From what I've heard so far, all his drums are muddy and flat. And that is just wrong. I consider it a production failure.

Ya know, on second thought, I'm sure that Kevin Shirley and the band did all they could to make this album sound great. And, in their studios on high-end equipment or in some expensive home theatre, I'm sure it does sound great. But since this is a WM exclusive, perhaps the average joe copy should have been produced for the average joe stereo system. Not every car or home has a $10k system...especially not the audience of WalMart shoppers.

Just a quik thot. Carry on.

I'll take Jeremey's word that the cd versions are going to sound far superior than the on-radio ones playing now.

But I have a real hard time believing Caveman would put out something this poor sounding, and am thinking surely the finished product will sound much better.

I have heard a couple of full blown mastered CD quality tracks. Never Walk Away nearly blew my speakers apart and Deen's drumming was the best I have heard since Hardline. Thunderous.

Now that is something to get excited about... this CD is gonna surprise some people!

That's what I'm really believing... I'm just not used to hearing crappy sounding samples to promote an album... LOL! But I'm anticipating something really special.

All the compressed files, including those sent out in advance were part of the bigger "lockdown" picture on this disc.

I can tell you one thing for sure. The versions we have heard are compressed to the point of sounding squashed. For the recording laymen it means no dynamics. It sounds like it is being "crammed" out of the speakers and gives off the smell of fresh shit..

Lets hope the compression is from some fucktard that was given the job of compiling and mixing the thing together and not in the final product.

They are mastering everything way too fucking hot these days all to sound the loudest on the radio but what they are really saying is... "Hey, most of this new music sucks balls so lets make it sound REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING because that is the only way anyone is going to notice this shit. Vapor Trails by Rush in 02 anyone? There WAS AUDIBLE FUCKING DISTORTION ON THE RETAIL CD FOR FUCKS SAKE !

The only way I have been able to tolerate some newer releases is to play everything through windows hooked up to my home theater so that I can use this great 32 band eq plugin. I have presets for certain albums and shit..

i just finished listening to generations again, and am still disappointed with the production.
the single being played around here sound very good on the radio, so i expect better this time, generation was probably the first time they had to work on a tight budget, or not the quality accessories in a home studio.

and I gotta get it off my man-boobs!

I FINALLY got over to the Frontiers Records MySpace page
to here NWA and the other track in their entirety and I was
NOT impressed and here's why:

The page opened and a song by Jorn started playing.
Not I only did I dig the song (never heard Jorn before) but
the production/sound quality was outstanding.
So I proceeded to play NWA...
HORRIBLE sound quality; muddy, muted, low-volume...

Is this just a lower bitrate file or is this how the entire
album is gonna sound? I sure as hell hope not.
Anyone know if this is the case???

And another thing bugging me about that song.
Either it was a very smart & bold move on the band's part
to record/release a song that is instantly "familiar" so fans will
immediately be able to hum along or it was pure laziness on their part,
re-hashing 20 year old riffs and melodies.
Seriously, this song is a BGTY/Believe In Me cross-breed from hell!

Shit, Neal's "tone" sounds like he coulda laid down these riffs just
minutes after tracking Believe In Me...

Any thouhgts?

Jorn Lande is some good stuff.. He has a great voice..I found it by accident on itunes and downloaded a couple albums.. Listen to .. Out to Every Nation..Sounds like a radio tune.. And that's a good question, how do some of these obscure artists recordings sound so good ? I mean ,so clear, everything is awesome with Jorn..
