Also, I wonder if we would be getting Revelation if there were no Wal-Mart involvement...

I LOVE San Jose, but I'm not familiar enough with the city to give advice about Wal-Mart on the East side..........

Not as scary as I thought it would be. I got there, got out of my car and some little kid was running through the parking lot and everyone was standing around asking where's security? Then when I was leaving there were 2 police cars parked right in front of the doors.

They did have the banners announcing Revelation under the CD bins, but none were out. I inquired at the register and was told they'd have it out tomorrow. :(

I had listened to my mp3 copy and got more and more excited, so I though, maybe, just maybe..............

At any rate, no, even though I picked out the "slowest" looking sales associate, he wouldn't sell me a copy early. I then decided, that since I had wasted the better part of my lunch hour, I would eat at the McDonald's in Wal-Mart. Apparently it is no longer required of McDonald's employees to speak or make eye contact, so that may partially explain why my order wasn't even close.

The only saving grace was that I grabbed a large sweet tea that, as you other southerners will concur, is a staple food down here...............

Until tomorrow!

What exactly is sweet tea? Iced tea with sugar? Knowing the local Wal-mart here they probably won't even have it unpacked tomorrow...that happened with Generations and when I asked the guy he didn't even know who Journey was.

It's just the principle of the thing. I mean, I can't stop Wal-Mart, or the Bush administration, or the endless parade of comic book movies Hollywood keeps making, but I can decide I don't want any part of them and not contribute to them in any way.

Also, I pretty much completely stopped buying CD's about a year ago. The loudness wars have rendered many of them almost unlistenable anyway, but mostly I just don't have room for them anymore, and got tired of moving them every time I changed addresses (I'm 26 and nowhere near ready to settle down in one place). So I sold just about every CD I owned, and pocketed about $2,500, and have way less stuff to deal with now. The only physical media I really consider buying these days is high quality vinyl...I got Springsteen's Magic and the Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang on vinyl, two albums which were borderline distorted on CD, and it pretty much convinced me to avoid the CD format as much as possible. If i bought a CD tomorrow, it'd have to go right into storage, as I literally have no room for any of that stuff where I'm living right now. I've got about 50 DVD's, 150 or so LP's in the closet, and the rest is clothes and music gear.

I'm hoping a legitimate download service establishes itself eventually, but so far no one's really come up with anything that doesn't totally suck ass. Mp3 downloads just can't be comparitively priced to the CD counterpart...at most, I could understand charging half the CD price, but given that there's no manufacturing, distribution, or physical retail costs, a download album should be about $5 tops, and all of it should go straight to the band (which would be more than they make from a retail CD sale anyway). This is not rocket science...unless you work in the music industry, I guess.

I forgot to add...the whole "european bonus track" bit is another reason why I really feel no reason to buy this on CD. Why buy a release that's incomplete?

Before I moved to Nashville and sold most of my collection, towards the end of my collecting days I got pretty tired of buying a CD only to see it posted online somewhere with Europe/Japan/Australia/Translyvania bonus tracks and realizing the disc I paid good money for is missing music that should be there. That might've been a neat trick for the labels in 1993 but it doesn't work anymore. Time to give it up.

I have my pc hooked up to my home theater sound system and DLP HDTV and I will tell you that mp3s (even when encoded correctly) suck balls. Through pc speakers it is much less obvious how much is lost from the compression used with mp3 files. When you hear an mp3 through a system will full range (good) speakers and a theater sub it is always very flat and lacking in dynamics big time. Reverb on vocals gets lost, spatial separation (how wide the stereo image sounds) goes right in the can.

I want the CD NOW !

Is the concert in 5.1 BTW ?

Mp3 sound does suck ass. But with new albums mastered so loudly as to destroy any potential dynamic contrast, I've found it doesn't really make much of a difference. The producers responsible for the "loudness wars" have really helped destroy the format, although from a cultural standpoint, the format is almost dead anyway.

I think in a few years, digital storage will be to the point where music can be bought and stored in a losseless format like FLAC...the technology is there, it's just a matter of hard drives being able to keep up. It will happen, believe me.

Just like vinyl which according to many had a superior/warmer sound to CD, Compact Discs themselves are now set to be replaced by lossy digital media.

I guess i'm either lucky or have bad ears as I never really noticed a huge difference in sound quality on any equipment, in fact I'm currently enjoying the Judas Priest Nostradamus promo in MP3 format. It certainly sounds umm...interesting - pure metal cheese.

I got around it by ordering off the official site. Hopefully.

Why isn't there away for me to download it and just send the band the couple bucks they'd make from the sale (if that) directly? That's how this should work.

Just curious, but why don't you support Wal-Mart?

A couple of reasons- they import more crap from China that most countries, and they try to put mom and pop businesses out of business.

What is different about WalMart in IL? The one by me (in IL) is like the U.N. The odds are about 20 to 1 that you will be served by someone who does not have English as their first language. Everyone I've encountered is able to speak English well though. The odds of being able to find someone in any department who can help you are about 800 to 1.

Because the ones around me aren't Super Wal-Marts and they close. The one in Streamwood is like the one you just described, and it's not so much a Wal-Mart as it is a flea market. Rolling Meadows means I have to fight traffic on Golf & Algonquin. I forget there's one in Elk Grove Village half the time... and the only Super Wal-Mart is on Touhy in Niles (I think it's a Super Duper). My hometown in VA has 7,000 people and has a bright clean Super Wal-Mart. I don't know... it just seems like if I need something, its just easier to go to Target or Jewel or Meijer.

Hard to say how the new cd is selling at the Super Wal-Mart down the street, they had about 300 copies, so it's a little difficult to gauge how fast they are moving. I will say, that bright and early on the 3rd, there they were in a display. I didn't even think about going to Sam's club, but their hours are not as early/late as Wallyworld, so I had already picked it up by 7:00 a.m. yesterday.

All good points. The one by my is not a Super WalMart either. It's still fairly clean though. The one in Palatine is much newer, but it is much yuckier. I don't go to Target often because I refuse to pay more for the same items I can get across the street. I rarely go in to Jewel because my husband does the grocery shopping. Going to a grocery store is sheer torture for me. That Meijer at Golf and Algonquin is the closest one, but that's too far for me. My cousin lives over there, so his wife is in Meijer a lot.

Palatine is just way too far out of the way for me. The Meijer you mentioned is the one closest to me, too... a little out of my way, but not by much. The Super Target is my preferred place to shop for groceries. The prices are give and take, some stuff is way cheaper, some not so much... I guess it evens out. The convenience of it to my house is what wins me over. I mean, there's a Jewel right across Barrington Rd from it, but the bigger Jewel stores just piss me off... all the aisles are cut in half and it's an utter hodge-podge of what's down what aisle. Truth be told, I like Dominick's better than Jewel. Though I have been known to get drug to the Butera on Golf and the Fiesta market as well.

My husband is the ultimate bargain grocery shopper. He and my daughter go to at least 2 stores every week, depending on the sales. Since Cub Foods closed, he's either at Jewel or Dominick's. He likes Dominick's better. He gets all of our produce either at Garden Fresh or Joe Caputo's. I get cleaning supplies, paper products, etc at Wal Mart. My husband hates Wal Mart and Sams about as much as I hate the grocery stores, so the arrangement works nicely. It's kind of embarassing that I have to take my daughter with me to the grocery stores on the rare occasions I go because she knows where everything is.

Got my CD yesterday, of course! :D Just as I walked into the electronics dept., every TV started playing clips of the DVD...every single TV in the place...it was like being at a surround sound concert...
Seems on this little island just a bridge away from downtown Charleston, I was the only one who had purchased teh CD...

BTW, the graphics and art work are superb....

I know, I made homemade lasagna for all my friends this past Saturday and as I was putting the layers together I ran out of meat sauce, so being in too big of a hurry I went to the store and then realized I'd left my purse at home, drove all the way back and got it but didn't have time to go back to the Dominick's I'm used to and ended up at the dreaded Jewel-Osco. I seriously needed a compass. I don't suppose they have Buteras over in the north burbs do they? Lol... if you ever get the urge to go grocery shopping in 1983, go to a Butera. There's one in Mt. Prospect and one in Elmwood Park (that I know of)... holy cow... everything has a price sticker and is keyed in by hand... but you can get a gallon of ice cream for $1.50!

...I heart Joe Caputo's.

...And for the record, the Wal-Mart on Touhy Ave is sold out too. Looks like Chicagoland is cleaned out. Will I ever get my DVD?

Most of the Dominicks closed up down here, except a few near the city and one down south of me, unfortunately there's a Jewel-Osco right by me. I'll never go into there because their prices are highway robbery

Thanks. That's a bit too far east for me Hoping for something a little more southwest so I could hit them up again on my way to work. I'll be trying Orland again in the morning (if I get up in time), but that store really does suck. One more reason I don't shop Walmart.

I have the CD (pre-ordered from the official site complete with t-shirt) but need to pick up a couple extra copies.

I know. I bought a pound of hamburger meat, marinara sauce, six bottles of pop, and a quart of oil and it was almost $30.
