imagine if neal and the band actually would've discovered arnel back in 1993 or so and would've gave perry the pink slip and arnel took the reins as lead vocalist.do you think journey would've continued on a streak of platinum albums and tours or would they have eventually slipped into the lower rungs of the charts as a once mighty but not so strong band?

mikemarrs wrote:great points you made there.not being a casualty of grunge and already being gone from the scene before it hit helped journey plus they were already laying low then the market swung back in its favor around '96 which is when they struck again with a new album much like kiss did with a reunion tour and both them and journey reastablished themselves after lean years and a tour could've been huge but of course that never came to pass sadly.
the only older band i know in '93 that had an kind of decent success was aerosmith with get a grip but they were an exception then not the norm and were the only band at the time not really affected by the whole grunge movement.

if Journey did anything in '93, it would have been with Kevin Chalfant who was unofficially, offically part of the band....and Chalfant claims to have several songs written during the six-man lineup of the 1993-95 era.
Honestly, from what I've heard, I don't think Arnel was ready for Journey 15 years ago. Great singer for sure, but listening to a few of the old videos compared to now, he's improved dramatically in that time.
Journey coming back in 1993 wouldn't have mattered as the music scene was dramatically changing. 1989-91 would have been the time to come back. By 1993-95, even Bon Jovi was having trouble surviving in the US. By '96 when TBF came out, things had slowly started to change back.

Then "The Storm" would of never happened. I still listen to the first "The Storm" album quite often, it is a gem.

Not capitalizing on this lineup is the biggest mistake in Journey history.
