No, it can't...unless you think Steve Lukather doesn't have a fucking clue what sounding great means, when he referred to Perry in the studio recently. Dude is only one of the best guitarists in the world, but that doesn't mean he's got a set of ears better than some of you, right?  Yeah, ok.

OMG...I did NOT say he couldn't sing. I don't have the first fucking clue if he can sing or not. I was commenting to Carol when she said that nobody HERE has heard him sing in the last 10 yrs or knows anything about his health or anything else so they shouldn't be spouting off that he can't sing!! I just pointed out the nobody HERE has heard him sing or knows anything about his health also. I was talking about the people posting on this board. NOT Steve Lukather.

Is that clear enough to you?

Laura knows. 8)

Yep, Lora and Cindy have.
And throwing up the White Sox thing as an example is ridiculuous. Four straight days/nights of screaming and celebrating, getting up there in the morning cold, no warmup, small speaker's microphone, no backup band/music -- this is supposed to indicate that Perry can't sing anymore -- bawaahaha!

Little Ann, when you start postin' like that, it's an indication of too much internet time for you again. Can't you hear the boys callin' now "mama"? Maybe it's time to attend to them.

Monster Struck, my boys are fine, thanks for the concern. The pix was taken 5 years ago, they are teenagers now -- capable of entertaining themselves. I get my entertainment by coming onto these forums and watching, with every lead singer change, the desperate attempts "new" Journey fans come onto these boards bagging on SP in order to pump up "the new guy." This is what the band continuously referred to SA, 8 years into his (SA's) tenure. Let's hope AP lasts even that long.

Little Ann, here's a little entertainment for you.

What about with Neal's voice? "People and Places": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZNhGY3qqx0 (this clip breaks in the middle, but I didn't see another)
This is such a peculiar song...but, I love the LIVE concert version more than the studio.

Thanks for the links. SP + GR = vocal magic. Journey was never the same vocally after GR left.

I don't usually disagree with you Lora - but I couldn't feel more differently about this. To my ears Rolie's vocals were like a dead weight on the Journey sound and after he left the combination of multi-layered Perry overdubs and Cain and Schon's backing vocals helped to take the band to the next level. The spine-tingling acapella harmony section at the end of Girl Can't Help It might last for only a few seconds but it beats anything on the Infinity/Evolution/Departure albums.

I'll agree ROR has the best Perry vocals bar none. What I like on the early SP/GR stuff, is the vocal contrast when they sing together. Rolie's smooth vocals just seem to bring out Perry's angelic sounding ones. Especially the contrast on one like Someday Soon, Perry almost sounds other worldly.

Absolutely, ROR was Steve's finest vocal performances. And always loved Greg's voice and singing in Journey. Although, I realize, had he not left the band at the time he did, we would not have gotten all those classic Journey material without Jon's contributions.

But too much butter isn't good for you, right? You can get heart attack!
Therefore, a little bit of Journey with Steve Perry is good, but too much is bad!
