I just want to say, fuck the analysts who picked the lakers in 5 or 6.

lots of disrespect.

what a blow out and how embarassing. paul pierce finally getting recognition. ray allen could have won it too but its pauls team. stats were close.

IMO, the lakers never had a chance. but people think one player can win it all. kobe was shut down in this series. not the best player on the planet everyone makes him out to be. not against the celtics, he doesnt play us well.

congrats celtics. been a long time comin!!!!!!!

I will take 26 more years for this one against the lakers, cause lakers wont be there again next year. the celtics will only be better.

everyone said a first year team couldnt do it. well look here!!! they will only be better next year. fans of other teams saying it will never happen in our first year and we are overrated.

hey, I have been drinking captain all night. what do you expect ? :)

hey, I cant blame you for pulling for your team. I would too, but I dont think the lakers will be back unless bynum really breaks out defensivly or they find a defensive player along the way. they are too soft.

I think the fans and media get too caught up in the kobe. I do believe he is the best offensive player in the league, way above LJ IMO. I still dont get the LJ thing. kobe is way better. but boston has his #.

but what gets me is that kobe is over confident. thats his downfall. not just over confident but cocky and just looks like he feels entitled. do I think he rules offensively ? yes, but he needs to check himself. no offense. cause he is a great player. but he shouldnt have got first defensive team over PP. that was a joke.

cant wait for football. :)

its been rough watching every game good or bad. I mean every game. a bad game I say I wont watch next game but habit, I cant help myself. good habits die hard.

Agree with your point on Pierce and the guy was unstoppable. I have never seen Kobe play like that! No foul trouble in the last half and he refused to take it to the basket. Gasol was at least in there taken his licks, but they do need Bynum to give them some toughness in the middle.

bynum wasnt all that good against the celtics. I am still unimpressed by bynum. he stunk and then started a good season. lets see what he can do a whole season before people start hailing him the savior, cause thats what fans online are doing and making excuses for.

I personally dont think he is enough. he is no KG.

I just dont see how the lakers got to the finals. will be interesting next year.

I dont get how people thought the lakers, so young, so lacking in players thought they could bes the celtics. I never thought the lakers could beat us, but the cletics could beat themselves.

I just dont see the lakers back.

no disrespect. I thought the series was the easiest of them all. 6 games felt like 5.

I'm with you on this one. Ray Allen is the unsung hero of this Finals, I just love what he did in Game 4. if not for Paul Pierce being the senior officer of Boston, Allen would have gotten the Finals MVP. but anyway, he's contented winning a championship. he could have won one earlier with the BUCKS, with the orginal BIG 3, if only the crappy refs didn't sold them out against the sixers.

What the Celtics did to the Fakers in game 6 was exactly what Kobe did to that Colorado girl. They raped 'em!

CONGRATULATIONS BOSTON CELTICS!!!! And of ALL the fans here ESPECIALLY YOU JFB!!!! WELL DESERVED
CHAMPIONSHIP!!! I have completely enjoyed your imput and knowledge!!! I'm also VERY HAPPY for the EAST!!!! :D

To be honest, the game was BORING....Celtics were playing just as we expect...KG comes thru, RA comes thru, PP comes thru, Rondo...etc.
Big "D" beat the "O" all the way....Celtics game was well rounded ALL FOUR QUARTERS and they shut Kobe down!!!!

RBJ and 78...I KNOW how sad this is for you and it makes me a little sad as well!!! I found myself rooting for KOBE and LA for the VERY FIRST time since Kobe has been in the league!!!!

For all you HATERS that have stepped in and turned this thread into a WAR ZONE instead of what it was intended....see me knocking my fists together two times, very quickly, in unison!!!
Unitl you showed up we were a group of people rooting for many different teams, critiquing the players and the teams after each game in a very positive and honest manner!!! Leave it to the Bandwagon jumpers to come in and claim victory EVERY TIME!!!

JFB....RBJ....78....DSHinMICH....luvsaugeri and anyone I may have missed (you know who you are) I look forward to seeing you and your teams in other sports threads!!! You are truly great fans and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing these games with you!!!

The "original Big 3" were Bird, McHale, and Parish...regardless of which team you root for! The term "big 3" was coined by a Boston writer about those three guys!

Thank you for the kind words. I've also enjoyed your input. It's always great to discuss sports with intelligent people, who actually know what they're talking about. While I've always admired the passion people have for their hometown team, I am nauseated by "fans" who are blinded by the team they are rooting for, and never engage their brain, before they speak, because their team(s) can never do any wrong!

Michigan Girl wrote: To be honest, the game was BORING.

No argument from me. It was one of the most boring games I've ever watched! Even though I was thrilled the Celtics won, I thought the Lakers would at least show up. That was really an embarrassing performance by the Lakers. They didn't even look like they wanted to be on the floor, which is really inexplicable, in a game of that magnitude! It's just one more reason that I've ALWAYS believed that Phil Jackson is VASTLY overrated as a coach. In spite of the guy's championships, he still has yet to build a team. Every team he has won with has been built for him. There isn't a single coach in America (at ANY level) who wouldn't have won those 6 championships with Michael Jordan as their star player!

Michigan Girl wrote:Big "D" beat the "O" all the way.

Defense ALWAYS wins, in the playoffs, regardless of the sport. That is why I NEVER understood why EVERYONE (all the "experts") was picking the Lakers to win, so easily. Anyone who watches basketball should have known that the Lakers offense (i.e. Kobe) wasn't beating the best defense in the league!

Michigan Girl wrote:Celtics game was well rounded ALL FOUR QUARTERS and they shut Kobe down!!!!

Even though Kobe had flashes in the series, I never felt intimidated (in terms of the Celtics being able to contain him) by the guy's game. He's not a great defensive player and focuses on his offense, a bit too much. The Lakers REALLY need to find some guys who know how to play defense!

At the end of the day, I'm not gloating over Boston's success, as we've won more than our share of championships, over the past 10 years. I'm simply genuinely happy for Pierce (who has paid his dues, BIG TIME), Garnett (who has ALWAYS been an IMMENSE player and class guy), and Allen (who played his ass off), and Doc Rivers (who has always been a good guy). These guys REALLY deserve to finally have a championship after sooooo many years of never really getting close! I am glad that a new generation of basketball fans at least now understand the great history of the Celtics franchise (because it was talked about during the broadcasts), and just how formidable of a team they were for MANY, MANY years. Those of us who watched Bird, McHale, and Parish retire, and Len Bias and Reggie Lewis die, WAY before their time, over the past 20 years are simply thankful that the Celtics are once again relevant, if only for a season!

bandwagon is so overused. I have been watching the celtics since 78'. I can count on one hand how many games I have missed since then, thats the truth!!! just because people come to gloat doesnt make them bandwagon. everytime a team loses, there are fans that use "bandwagon" try something else cause thats a lame term that holds no truth.

At this point, I'm not sure it really matters who thought whom was "overrated" or "underrated". It doesn't change the fact that the Celtics are raising banner number 17 to the rafters, and the Lakers are still chasing the Celtics for the lead in banners! The bottom line is the Lakers were simply WAY overmatched in this series, and as it turns out, were the weakest opponent the Celtics faced during their entire playoff run!

Congrats to Celtics fans.

Truthfully, I must not be much of a Lakers fan anymore. I wasn't really all that disappointed and only had a passing interest in the game. I don't think I've watched a whole game this entire season.
