Vlasic Pickle commercial...yes, it is on topic...lol.

Postby tammy » Fri Jul 04, 2008 1:22 am

Last night I happened to look at the t.v. when a Vlasic pickle commercial came on...this is what it was: a lady in a cafe was about to drink a glass of water when there was a loud noise that startled her. She turned around and there was the Stork cartoon character sitting next to a little girl eating a pickle (hence, the loud noise) - he then says, "the girl can't help it." lol.
That made me wonder if this is just a coincidence or did the writer think of the song, or is it just a common phrase that I never heard before...I only know it from the title of the song.

I see A LOT of Journey type connections...the other day in the thrift store book section I saw a book title, "the wheels in the sky" and another time it was, "Trial by Fire". Also, at the corner gas station (Mobil) anyone notice their sign that says, Journey Happier. ? Anyone else?

Reverse that thought and maybe now you can see where Journey got some of their Song titles from. Trial by Fire has been around as a saying for Donkeys years.

Exactly. Much as we'd love to think it does, Journey doesn't rule the world or have that much influence.
There's another (and older) song called Girl Can't Help it, too, btw.
And 10 years before Escape came out, there was a song called "I'm Stone In Love".
If anything, it was Journey that was jacking other peoples' ideas.

I saw that pickle commercial and I heard that, and instead of Journey, my though was "I swear there's gonna be a thread about this."

I was referring to the cucumber jokes about Rolie from those album covers.
I never asked jack crap about pussy produce.

But the pickle thread had finally taken it's twisted turn.
I'll be first with the honesty. I've never done that. I don't waste food.

There's a Journey line in "The Incredible Hulk" - we saw it last night. LOVED it! :D

The part where Betty and the Hulk are at the cave; it's raining and she tells him to sit with her...
then she says:

"It's alright.....it's just the rain."

Oh, and another thing:

If there was a Journey BioPic, all you need to do is have Ed Norton either grow his hair out, or have him wear a long-hair dark wig and Hazel contacts:

BAM! You have your "Steve Perry".

Holy cow, I forgot about that Little Richard song...it's even used on something contemporary, but I can't think of it right now. I have heard the other songs and knew the titles were alike with Journey's. Thanks for pulling these up...now I want to watch that Jayne Mansfield movie again. :)

Ed Norton is a great actor. Rounders is one of my favorite movies. I think he did his best work in American History X. What a great movie that was. Troubling but great.

Scarf?! Nah, he looks damn seeeexxxxy there! I think Neal later borrowed the shirt for the WOF.
His voice sounds much warmer & caressing here than on ROR...wish there was legit footage of this tour. But, thanking the guy/gal who snuck the camera in...always reminds me of Kramer from Seinfeld hiding a video camera in his jacket at the movies.

Aha! I found it - I knew there was a place I was hearing this...Fergie uses "the girl can't help it" in her song, "Clumsy": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnBcIN1P ... re=related

Also, today I was in the store and "Foolish Heart" was playing overhead (it happens) and I noticed there are other songs called, "My Foolish Heart" - one from the 50s and another by Paula Abdul.
