Allies by Heart, Written by Cain

Postby Onestepper » Tue Jul 08, 2008 8:37 am

I know this was discussed briefly in the Heart Set List thread, but stumbled across this on the You, and just thought that I would have loved to have heard a Cain/Perry version. Was always, and will always be my favorite Heart tune.

Besides Allies, I thought How can I refuse was alright on that album. Allies unfortunately has the dubious distinction of being Heart's lowest charting single in the U.S.

Yep, but if you put the best songs on the three together, you got a pretty good record!
HOW CAN I REFUSE is still one of their finest songs, I think (certianly of the "Big Hair" period) and I;ve always loved ALLIES, but I think a Perry version wouldn't have worked- that song needs a woman's voice.

Agree that the female voice worked well with the song. The thing that always stuck with me on the song though was the piano progression.
