OT: New Foreigner song

Postby Rip Rokken » Thu Jul 24, 2008 10:54 pm

Went to their site in prep for the concert in Dallas, and hadn't realized there was a new song ("Too Late")! Guess it was released around a month ago. Now, I'm not only a Foreigner fan, but a huge Kelly Hansen fan, so this is cool! You can hear it by going to their site -- http://www.foreigneronline.com/

Thanks for the post Rip Rokken! I will also be at the Dallas show. The new song was released about a month ago and a new Very Best CD was released last week. The new song, along with a few live songs, and a re-worked Say You Will are all on this new double CD. You can get it online at FYE.com or at the show. See you there! I am off to the airport to head to the San Antonio show now.

HAHA! I was thinking of you when I posted that, and am glad you saw it! You will be in Dallas, too? We should meet! PM me details or contact info, and we will find a way to meet at the show and at least say hello. Also, I JUST joined the Foreigner message board today to inquire about about a meet/greet, so if you have any knowledge, please pass it along. Look forward hopefully to seeing ya!

This is a very good, classic sounding Foreigner song! Kelly Hansen does a great job fronting Foreigner. I still like Lou Gramm better, but Hansen seems to fit with Foreigner.

I was amazed at how much he sounded like Gramm live when I saw them last time -- very impressive, and the crowd loved him! Really did the songs the justice they deserved. Of course, I'm an old Hurricane fan as well, and also loved him in Unruly Child and Tak Yonemochi's "The River The Life" that Juan Croucier produced. Never got that last import Hurricane CD, though.... has anyone heard it, and is it good?

That sounds right out of the Double Vision era, which is not a bad thing.

That it does...Hansen's vocals sound similar to Gramm circa "Mr. Moonlight" in '95.

That song is killer and sounds like classic Foreigner. Hanson is doing a brilliant job replacing a legend.

Highly impressed!

You're right! I just wish they would have released an entire new album instead of just that one new song! :?

The cd is called No End In Sight-The Very Best of Foreigner. There is also a live studio version of "Say You Will" on there. Kelly told me in our interview last week that they are also working on an album of all new material.

I said that but am a sucker for remasters and new trax....Caved on both the VH and Crue ones in recent years...

May trade in my Jukebox Heroes Anthology of theirs as a way to partially justify my stupidity.

If you've never heard it before, track down a copy of the first Stuart Smith cd. Hansen does about 4-5 songs, and then you have Joe Lynn Turner, Glenn Hughes, Richie Sambora and a few others. Great stuff...

I am not familiar with Hansen's other projects except for what he's doing with Foreigner now, but you have gotten me interested in going back and checking some of those albums out.

It's an acoustic version of the song, sounds pretty good

They played that song acoustically at the show I saw, and it was fantastic! Great choice for the CD.

I listened to quite a few... seems they kinda did the Journey thing and rerecorded their hits? Sounds great, though! Kelly Hanses gets a free pass. BTW, since you are going to the show, where will you be so we can come say hello?

Heard the new Foreigner track last night and today on 105.5 WDHA-FM, which bills itself as New Jersey's classic rock station. They broadcast out of Dover, NJ, but their signal is not very strong.

This tune sounds like classic Foreigner, and Kelly Hansen fits right in. I'm looking forward to seeing them in Atlantic City at the end of August.

You are all going to laugh at me. But Gene Simmons was correct when he said that Kiss will live on without any original members. Look at Foreigner with only one! Look at Journey with 2. These are not bands, they are BRANDS.

Which is fine. You are paying for history. Nothing wrong with that, other than it is very corporate.

Cheap Trick on the current tour is legit. That is awesome in so many ways. Heart is a brand with the 2 lead singers and Journey is a brand with 2 originals. As long as everyone is happy with what they paid for is all that matters though. I am hoping I get to see Triumph as a band and not a brand though.

I was truly impressed with Foreigner, and I thought they should have closed instead of BA.

Bryan can still sing, and he's a great musician, but I will NEVER go to one of his concerts again. His set list was abominable. He only played three songs off "Reckless" and the title track to "Cuts Like a Knife". He chose to play "I Wanna Be Your Underwear" and "18 'Til I Die" (off the last album of his I will ever buy) instead of actual good songs like "The Only One" or "Lonely Nights". Yuck.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

I heard the new song LIVE last night in Dallas, and it kicked A, as did Foreigner!!! And in Bryan's defense, he also kicked major A -- his performance was flawless. We were actually surprised to find he was opening for Foreigner, but it seemed more like a double-bill with equal time.

Back to Foreigner, this is my 2nd time to see this lineup, and I'm even more impressed than the first time, which was MAJORLY -- they've really got their groove down, and Hansen/Bonham/Pilson completely bring a headbanging element to the show (especially Pilson, who whips his hair all around like a headbanger -- he's awesome!) I about went nuts when Mick Jones introduced Jeff as "Jeff Pilson of DOKKEN", and I believe the crowd also responded with the loudest applause!

Pilson rocks. Killer singer too. I've seen him w/ Dokken many times in the 80's, but the best I've seen him was when he was in Dio. He added so much to RJD's show - his playing, stage presence really stood out - and for the first time I got to hear Dio with kick-ass backing vocals from Jeff. Glad he's foundeven more success w/ Foreigner, he deserves it.

Its nice to hear something new but as someone said in Amazon comments, its got a Maroon 5 sounding intro which I don't like. Fortunately that vibe isn't in the whole song.

I don't understand why they don't make the effort to record more new stuff. The last REO wasn't great but at least its not another GH.
