I'm with you on the layering, it sounded great. The mix is a bit off for me. Hugo needs turned up a notch, Josh is about right, and the keys need turned down a couple of notches (sorry Eric). I'm hoping the final mix gets a big tune up! I don't pay a lot of attention to clips as most of the time they don't do a song justice. In fact, I'd argue they make things worse and reduce interest.

Now where is that Valentine CD. Someone needs to give Journey a run for their money. Hugo is the man to do it.

What about Fabrizio Grossi, John Macaluso and all the other contributors!

I was a little underwhelmed by the clips but still excited about the final release. I liked the way that Hugo's vocals were layered in places.

I agree that at times Hugo was way too low in the mix. They should take a cue from Revelation here and turn him up a notch or three! :D

The 'other guys' are mentioned in Andrew's original article and also contributed to the album playing bass and drums. It seems wrong just to credit a few people with the work undertaken.

wow....I mean WOW!! This stuff sounds really good. However.... this is where it gets "wierd". It's a mixture of heavy rock drums, lots of riffing guitars, and soft lush lead vocals. So...the overall mix of "instruments" seems a little un matched. I would have liked a little less guitar up front, a little more steady pulse on the drums ala Smitty. So I hope they soften the edge a bit and increase the feel of the pocket. ;)

Now Hugo's voice....I admit the studio loves his voice where they can add some fx to thicken it up, etc, etc. But it still comes off a little soft, it's like he's not even breaking a sweat. I wonder how loud he sings in person with no mics, etc. I would imagine he comes off kind of soft sounding. But I do really like these tunes, just either tone down the other players or spark a fire in Hugo's ass and have em belt those songs out with a little more ummpphh! :) lol..

Hugo's vocals aren't POWERFUL enough, seems kind of weak in the mix.

He always has had a thin voice, probably too thin to ever front Journey, but he's got a really good voice. I will definitely be buying this album.

Gotta also remember that myspace music isn't exactly streaming in high quality.

Here we go - my take on the samples:

A classic sound, a fitting tribute, yet some solid new songs. 'You are not alone' sounds AWESOME!

As for a Frabrazzi production, this is the best one I've heard, with a nice mix of everything. Finally some tracks that sound on par with my favorite Hugo collaboration with the band 'Street Talk' on 'Why is my heart feeling lonely tonight'

Definitely looking forward to this

Was wondering when this CD was coming out. I listened to the clips and I have to admit, while sounding good, his voice sounds 'buried' under the instruments. I was expecting more punch, crisper...but, wonder if it is cuz it really is more of the guitarist's CD than the vocalist's.

I wonder if Hugo and Josh would tour behind this album...
Their combined catalogues would guarantee damn good and fresh live performances... much more interesting than something you can hear again and again from you know who...
