Lou Gramm show on 6/14/08

Postby Jad » Thu Jun 19, 2008 8:12 am

Hello all. I got to see Lou last Saturday (Jun 14) at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA. The last time I saw him was with Foreigner back in 1999 which was when he just came back from his surgery. Back then you really couldn't even tell it was him vocally, his voice was very deep. And of course, there was the additional weight. Over these past few years I've seen where people saw him and posted a wide variety of reviews from he sounded terrible to he sounded good. I really didn't know what to expect since it had been a while since I've seen him.

Well.....the man was ON. He sounded very well. No he didn't sound like the pre-surgery Lou, but he sounded a hell of a lot better than he did when I saw him in '99. He has made great progress in getting THE VOICE as close to where it used to be. He's still a little "portly" but definitely not as big as he was in '99. His band is very tight and it turned out to be a great show. Lou is my favorite singer, so I was really happy to see the progress he's made. He sang 14 songs for about an hour and twenty minutes. They were (not in order):

Long Long Way From Home, Cold As Ice, Feels Like the First Time, Double Vision, Hot Blooded, Blue Morning Blue Day, Head Games, Dirty White Boy, Rev on the Red Line, Juke Box Hero, I Want to Know What Love Is (I thought he once said he wouldn't do this one since Mick wrote it), Midnight Blue, Ready or Not & Just Between You and Me.

Like I said I was surprised to hear IWTKWLI. Since he sang it, Waiting for a Girl Like You was omitted. As was my favorite Foreigner song That Was Yesterday. This was my only disappointment. Wish he could have sang that one.

So the end result was a great show. Now....when is his new CD gonna come out?!?!?!

I saw Foreigner years ago. I thought about that time but I may be wrong. When I saw them and Lou was in the bad he looked scary skinny. Now I hear these reports he is way over weight. What is the deal?

His weight issues stem from the steroid treatments he had been on.

Saw him this past weekend in Detroit and he sounded very good - sounds like the same set list you mentioned above - he did say they had just started recently to perform IWTKWLI - cool that his brothers are touring with him - scandal with patty smyth opened up and were also very good

I saw him a couple of weeks ago in Charlotte...Sounded really good...

Over all though, I saw the current lineup of Foreigner a couple of months ago and I think they were a little better...
