OT | Job Offer?

Voted Worlds #1 Most Loonatic Fanbase

Does the below scenario outline a job offer or not?

Yes, when money is agreed on and a start date is established, that's an offer

No, this doesn't constitute an offer. You're effin' nuts.

An offer and a contract are two different things. You got an offer, but obviously not a contract.

Enough that they served your ass with notice to take it down.

God I wish you'd learn to quote.

Anyway, whomever dialed that number would have gotten nowhere, because it was edited, Einstein. It was the SF area code (415) then the last 4 digits of the office.

Really? Served me with a notice??

Actually I got a nice email from Nancy asking me to take it down. She's very sweet and the only reason it was put up there was for the publication to reference it with regard to the veracity of my claim. And yes, I did me homework. Sharing voice mails is not illegal. I could have left it up all I wanted to. The party on voice mail knows they are being recorded and the recording is the property of the individual making the recording. Check it out, Judge Judy.

Yeah, yeah... disturbing, but remember the industry is viciously cut-throat. Not that it's applicable to engineers, but I'm reminded of a Hunter S. Thompson quote...

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."

I agree....But now No lippin has gotten into this thread and it's gotten fun. So at least it's cheering me up to share here yet again...

The DVD project will be a lark. The real work is on the new CD with John Spinks...

You're the one who's calling all the attention to it, and the one who started a tell all blog when they didn't hire you.

Frankly, I think they've been quite gracious to you considering the crap you've pulled.

That is very funny....And relevant. I will never forget a phone conversation with someone with initials JB a little over a year ago that went something like "...But you've already made me the offer...?" and the response...classic: "Yeah well...Welcome to the music business." That's the kind of stuff you tell your grandkids about.

Oh laws, Journah! Please don't hurt me!!

You flatter me, NL. You think Journey gives one shit about me or anything that I do? I'm a flea on the dog's balls that is Journey. Stop making everything so important and earth shaking.

You might try taking your own advice, and actually move on with your life.

Literally, this is my life now. I quit my job and I am in a Journey tribute band. It's as real to me as your job shucking oysters is to you. There's nothing else really to move onto.

Well, at least it's real to you.

What is also real is that the admin of this site does this for a living and part of that is maintaining a good relationship with Journey and their management. Your coming in here mouthing off about their personal business and posting links to answering phone messages is probably not helping him achieve that relationship.

You didn't get the job, dude, let it the hell go.

I gotta go to bed. But to address your final concerns...

1) I am sure that my contributions over the years to this site, worthwhile or completely bullshit, have done little if any harm to Andrew and his livelihood, and I'm sure he would tell you the same.
2) It's not Journey's personal business I'm mouthing off about. It's mine.
3) This wasn't even about me getting the job with Journey...Geez...Some people have a one track mind....
