I have never dated a girl, or hardly even MET a girl with music taste anywhere close to my own.

Lone exception is my best friend, but while she loves prog, she hates melodic rock. :(

Losers, all of 'em. ;)

Some conversations I've had with girlfriends about my favorite music in the past:

Me- Have you ever listened to Van Halen?
Her- Didn't he do "Brown Eyed Girl"?

Me- I'm really into Bob Seger.
Her- The guy from Full House?

Me- I think you'd be into Genesis.
Her- Is that an STD?

Prog, getting referrals from MR ladies may not be a bad idea! :D
Better luck next time!

I'll eat to that. Drink to that. Sorry.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

This cute girl walks in...wonderfully-styled brown hair, perfect white teeth, legs smoother than Gregg Rolie's organ.... BUT none of this is the best part...

she had a CAMEL shirt... as in the band CAMEL....

Maybe she could somehow sense that you were thinking about the smoothness of Rolie's organ and she got confused?

I about lost myself... I haven't met someone in person who even KNOWS of the band Camel, let alone liking them... I was like... omgomgomgomgomg. My prog princess arrived!

So, I decide, time to break the ice. I "walk by to grab napkins" and stop beside her real quick and compliment her.

Me- "Hey!! Nice shirt!! I love Camel."

Her- "Oh really?"

Me- "Yeah. That's the first Camel shirt I've ever seen actually, odd seeing it around here! Great taste."

Her- "Thanks. I made it myself."

Me- "Keep up the good work! So I..."

Her- "Oh hey I have to go."

and then she just picked up her food and left. Just like that.

Damn, something's gotta be wrong with me!! She was either a bitch, shy, in a hurry, or creeped out.
.

Uh...sorry dude...a wake up call might be in order. Try something a little more "reachable" next time. Perhaps she's seen one too many of your forum avitars? ;) lol..

u could probably connect with someone who isn't exactly and obvious match, like the shirt. take time to explore.

my daughter is doing the same list checking off thing. open ur EYES and ur mind.

if not, don't take it personally and just say next. move forward don't look back

Thank you so much for posting that link! Years ago I was given a box of unlabelled tapes; 'The Snow Goose' was my favourite one, but until now, I haven't been able to identify who the band was or the name of the album.
You're damn right, they are brilliant. Can go and track down more of their stuff now :D

Facial Hair? Yay or Nay?

Body Hair? Yay or Nay?

I look forward to your responses.

Facial hair - depend on the guy and the style. I have several friends who look decidedly better with some form of a beard and/or tash, either because it suits the shape of their face, or because it stops a 30 year old dish from looking like a ten year old kid (or in the case of my ex, stopped him looking exactly like his dad when we were having sex - ew!) For example, Gregg Rolie looks better to me with the recent beard than he did clean shaven back in the day. It just changes the shape of his face that little bit to something more aesthetically pleasing (your little dose of arty-farty bullshit speak for the day.)

Generally, I'm a pro-face fuzz girl, but there are some men who just shouldn't go there: wrong face shape or completely unable to grow a proper beard (what I refer to as face mildew.) Mind you, I'm also a sucker for a guy with long hair, provided the hairline stays put. (The hairline thing is the fault of an ex-boss - an arsehole with major on-top baldness, and one greasy, grey sausage curl in a pony tail at the back. Quease-making.)

As for body hair - I don't mind the smooth skin thing at all, nor do I mind a bit of a chest rug, provided it's not so thick you could lose a small dog in it. If you can still see nipples without moving anything, it's all good. But if we're talking back and shoulder hair, the rule is "get thee to some wax, man, and as fast as you can!"

So here's a question in response - how do you feel about hair on women i.e. legs and armpits? Or the ever tender subject, the 'bikini line'?

Prog, I'm old enough to be your mother; so I have a motherly word of advice to you - don't sweat the small stuff, you have plenty of time.

And one other thing, I met the love of my life when I was least expecting it. Actually, I had given up on ever finding him when it happened. So, maye you're trying too hard?

Prog, you need to cruise overseas to the UK and start dating Phen. The two of you can become the next Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.

So what do we think - did Prog find his dream girl and has spent the last three weeks getting hot and sticky, or is he walking the streets looking for her, holding a boom box over his head with Camel blaring out as a declaration of his love?

Dude should have joined the Peace corp for a few years. Lots of travel and all expenses paid plus medical and dental. You have to bust your ass but it's a great confidence builder.
And you could be eligible for student loan deferrel/forgiveness and a 6k grant to readjust back to life in the states.

Not a bad idea - I'd been thinking he needed to go out and travel a bit (which is what I did when I was in pretty much his position 11 years ago.)
Prog, hope you're ok - check in man!
