I'm not sure about anyone else but I for one am finding it increasingly difficult to find any posts about Journey on the band's own MR forum as it has become increasingly swamped with a seemingly never ending number of O/T political posts.

For those that might not be aware I just wanted to point out that MR has its own dedicated forum for Political discussion just a few doors down at http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=39

At the time of writing that forum hasn't been used since September 1st.

I know the Journey forum is subject to a massive variety of subjects due to it's popularity and larger user group but it's getting a little overwhelmed with political content from what seems to be a core group. It kind of reminds me of one of those forums where moderation or spam filters are not well implemented and every second post is advertising 'v1agra' or ways to 'ga1n an 1nch and pl3ase th3 lad1es'! It's just not a fun place to visit anymore.

I'm not slamming anyone here I just wanted to ask nicely whether we could move at least some of the political debate downstairsand have the Journey forum back now?

Feel free to post about Journey any time you want. No one is stopping you.
But please try to cover something that hasn't been discussed before, AND more importantly, something not too fluffy.

Are you American perchance?

As for something that has not been discussed before - the current political hurricane sweeping through this board is just the same old sh!t rehashed - spinning around in circles and picking up more dirt along the way. Nothing new.

Hello finalfight Image
Just thought I'd stop in here because you won't see me much in the
political posts you poke of.

Variety is always what I've liked best about the MR forums.
Hope you can find fun around here once again.

EXACTLY!

So what's new with Journey?

Ross get a new bass?
Like the black piano? Ravioli?
Isn't Deen's hair just dreamy?
Neal pick up more bling?
Is AP wearing red leather pants now?

When are they gonna put out a new album and what should its title be? Perry gonna be on it?

Point taken! Business as usual in the Journey camp.

You know it's a slow news week when all I could think of posting (and I didn't in the end) was the O/T fact that Swing Out Sister have just released an album called Beautiful Mess - same as JSS.

Back to real life I guess...

Swing Out Sister?

A great party song that most rockers probably hated in public, but liked in private.
Always thought the snare drum pop & ring made the song.

I would prefer that there be more interesting Journey-related threads but it ain't happenin' right now. Also, no one goes to that dungeon called the Politics forum. It's where posts go to die.

I know what you're saying FF, but it'll all be over in a few months.

I read on here where someone posted a description about this place that made it all make sense. And to whomever it was, kudos.

They said, and I'm paraphrasing... "The MR Journey forum is a place for Journey fans to discuss whatever it is that's on their minds."
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Face it, the OT posts are here to stay. At least they are appropriately titled so you know what to read and what to avoid. You hit the nail on the head...this is the largest community on the MR Forum page. It is where "our friends" are. Many people never get further down the page than the Journey forum. So this is where "we" talk. I have complained in the past as well, but see now that it is ridiculous to worry about it. In fact, I think Andrew should delete more than half of the forums here. Most of the activity could go into a "General Music" forum instead.

I just hope if there are threads of this nature, that people remember to be civil. I don't even want to discuss politics with some members here because they get too ugly. You can't change the oppinions of a stump, and we all get stubborn on things we believe, but do it with a little dignity. Conversationpc you have never treated me badly so this is not for you!   I am voting Republican this year, though I am an Independent. Some of my family are Dye in the wool Dems. I still get along with them!

I always try to stay out of the political threads. If you think the Journey wars were bloody, they still got nuthin' on political arguments!

I remember when Andrew reopened the forum and it was titled something like " Journey and general conversation topics". So it seems to be part of the forum now regardless of the forum's current name.

Nothing out of the ordinary is really happening with Journey right now, so that's why we write about other stuff. If we all were to only write about Journey stuff period, there would hardly be any posting going on, only when something out of the ordinary happened with Journey. There would be times when lots of threads would be started, lots of times when nothing was happening, and then lots of time in between to two.

When something does happen in regards to Journey, we find out about it ASAP on this board. I say it's fine the way it is now. Keeps us all entertained and tuned on to this site while nothing really out of the ordinary is happening to report on with Journey.
