Apparently won't be the last??? I think your suffering from altitude sickness with that 6 feet you've got going on  He clearly wasn't the first and clearly wasn't the last. I'm quite sure that even Arnel probably isn't the last! What's your point? Journey can tour their old asses off for another 20 years, and Perry will forever be the only one out of their 27 lead singers who ever matters!

John from Boston

Exactly. Arnel is no Sammy Hagar. He hasn't come into a band with his own style, his own hits, and his own legend. He is simply trying to emulate Steve Perry. There's nothing wrong with that... but you shouldn't call it anything else. The legend will always be that of Steve Perry's vocals and no one else's.

Wow ! This is a lengthy topic. Perry fades away ? In what reality do you live? Journey will always have to wrap themselves in a 3 way split to draw 20,000. If Perry ever did a final show, they would fill an 80,000 stadium plus the floor to 100,000 with a tap dancing as an opening act. Can you imagine the record sales boost, mpg etc ?

I've followed this thread from day one...Funny how many of the posts are jump-in reactions to the title, and not follow-up replies to the gist lol.

As I said before...throw in Perry's name to get a reaction...ride SP's coattails some more. :P

Just proves that Perry is not fading away and never will IMO.

He certainly is SJ, but if he got the finger out and got to work, he could be in our charts too - and that would make life interesting. Especially now that Journey look like they can and will, continue.

Dan, you've certainly toned down the rhetoric against SP. Good for you. Guess Arnel did make you a better person ,,, bring that sig back.

I did a search on the internet today looking for bullet hole emoticons which I would pepper the first post of this thread with in the quote function, but had no luck on finding any. Love to cap about 50 rounds off into it though.

54,000,000 Perry
1,000,000 Pineda

That's the difference in Discs sold between the two. I won't even go into how many top 40 hits separate them.

In 5 years we can look at the canvas that Arnel has painted and compare them again, but for now it's not close.
I'm not knocking Arnel at all but Age alone will be one the hurdles keeping him from even completing 10 percent of what the band accomplished with SP. It's just the facts. There are young people in the crowds but the majority following the band are older and the whole fan base is shrinking as a group even with the infusion of filipino followers who are more likely to be Arnel fans than Journey fans. Nothing is going to change that, it's just the nature of music in the 21st century.
