if plant isn't involved it isn't led zeppelin.thats like the doors going out with someone besides jim morrison.if they go out without plant that waters down the legacy of the band in my opinion while going out with plant and doing great shows will do more good than anything.some of these guys are one of a kind and can't be replaced.same thing with the stones that band is mick and keith and no one replaces them period.

From today's Blabbermouth.net news report-

ROBERT PLANT Says LED ZEPPELIN Reunion Tour Rumors Are 'Bogus' - Sep. 29, 2008
Singer Robert Plant has ruled out reports that he will embark on a LED ZEPPELIN reunion tour next year.

A statement posted on his web site says: "Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with LED ZEPPELIN. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets."

Plant said, "It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward. I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects."

Last week, The Sun published a report claiming that Plant had finally decided to join the other members — Jason Bonham, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page — on a full-fledged reunion tour.

In an August 2008 interview with Jim Johnson and Lynne Woodison of the Detroit rock station 94.7 WCSX, Jason Bonham revealed that he had been meeting up with Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones in recent months and that they'd been "trying to do some new material and writing."

"I've been over [to England] a couple of times," Bonham said. "I've been working with Jimmy and John Paul and trying to do ... some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something. At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material. When I get there, I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me. It's my life. It's what I've dreamed about doing."

He added that was still too early to tell what will become of these "jam" sessions, but admitted that the "possibility of doing something is in the cards. I really felt it was in the cards from the moment we walked offstage at the [LED ZEPPELIN reunion concert at] O2 [in London in December 2007]."

Robert Plant and bluegrass superstar Alison Krauss are currently touring the USA on the last leg of their "Raising Sand" tour. They played a benefit concert in Oklahoma City for victims of Hurricane Ike last Friday; Austin, Texas last Saturday and tomorrow they play Portland, Oregon before finishing the tour in Saratoga, California on October 5.

After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years, according to a statement posted on his web site.

Here's an update from BBC news -

Zeppelin to go back on the road

Robert Plant has ruled himself out of further collaborations with the band

Rock legends Led Zeppelin are planning to tour and record but without frontman Robert Plant.

Bassist John Paul Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought after Plant ruled himself out.

The last time the band performed together was at the O2 arena in London in December 2007.

Speculation has since been rife that the surviving members of the band, with Jason Bonham, son of their late drummer John Bonham, would go back on the road.

It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there
John Paul Jones

Jones, speaking at a guitar show in Exeter, Devon said: "We are trying out a couple of singers.

"We want to do it. It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there."

He said that he and guitarist Jimmy Page along with drummer Jason Bonham did not want a replica of Plant.

He said: "It's got to be right. There's no point in just finding another Robert.

"You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band.

"There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be on board."

He described the one-off show at the O2 as "wonderful".

He said: "The most pleasure is making music. I love listening to it, but nothing as much fun as having an instrument in my hand and communicating with people."

He said preparation for the London show had been "very hard work", but everything had clicked on the night.

"It felt like the next night of the last tour."

Considering MOST people consider Led Zeppelin Robert Plant's band, maybe they should consider altering the name a little if they decide on new material. Maybe shorten the name to just Zeppelin or possibly change it to one of their previous album titles? ZOSO?

Hey, Angie...how's that broken heart? You OK?
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!
