Man, I would have thought that being addicted to water would have been one of the better things to be addicted to........guess not.

This reminds me of the woman who died trying to hold her pee to win a Wii, not exactly the same thing but still water related.

I've heard of this happening before. I think it was last year that some radio station out west had a contest to see who could drink the most water. A nurse called in to the station to warn them that someone could die but it was too late. Someone ended up dying from drinking too much.

Yeah, that was the first thing to come to mind. I like the think I drink alot of water, but DAMN, talk about pushing things to the limit. I can't imagine drinking enough to start changing your own chemical balance.

I drink a gallon a day, but definitely not all at once. It can be really dangerous. What a way to go...

If over-indulgence in something can kill me, I'd rather it be because of sex.

My boyfriend almost died from drinking "too much" water. Working outside in the summer heat, he wouldn't listen to me when I told him to add at least 2 Gatorades a day with the water he was guzzling to replace electrolytes. So he guzzled a gallon of water a day. One day before leaving for work he started getting dizzy about every twenty minutes and almost passing out. The hospital found out his potassium had dropped so bad, it was causing his heart rate to go down to 34 (normal is around 75 or 80) for a second or two and then it'd come back up. At his follow up appt. with his doctor, the doc told him to drink Gatorade because all of the water he was drinking was diluting the sodium and nutrients your body has to have. Took him a while to admit I was right.
