Again, I admit I'm a minority. I've been playing guitar for over 22 years and I've never seen a guy make a living playing as sloppy as Howe does...I think he's one of the most overrated schmoes to ever pick up the instrument.

frank , i was never a huge fan of YES, (too complicated for me 8) )

BUT wouldnt you say that most of the GREAT guitar players , really arent that technically great..

many of my favorite players would get "smoked" in a one on one contest..but they are good writers and

know what to play..

that Owner of a Lonley Heart solo here was weak.. HOWEVER .. at 3:33 he nails the rhythm part!!! go figure 8)

Andy Summers of The Police was pretty sloppy on their reunion tour. I saw them twice, and both times he was delivering some slop. The second show was a little better. But the shows sounded pretty good overall. Sting and Stewart more than made up for Andy's slop.

These guys are in their 60's - what do you expect?

Justin Hayward's a pretty good guitar player. The keyboardist for MB is from Yes also and seemed to fit right in with the Moodies as both bands were progressive rock pioneers. Sorry for the hijack, please continue with thr Steve Howe bashing.

Man I'm watching this I've Seen All Good People clip and those runs Howe plays once the electric kicks in are so great. Slippery, original, and clean! I'm still curious to hear some clips where Howe's particularly sloppy.

I will give you one thing - sometimes he plays shit that's too crazy to fit the song or his tone doesn't fit the song. The Strat was a strange choice for Owner of a Lonely Heart and the lead tone he used there was shitty for that song, especially since Rabin's original version was so processed and "80sized"

Hey, don't feel bad... I'm a pretty big progressive rock fan. Dream Theater is in my top 3 favorite bands, love stuff like Ayreon, Porcupine Tree, Gabriel-era Genesis (and PC-era too, but that wasnt prog for the most part), Opeth, Camel, Moody Blues etc. and I'm a pretty big Yes fan too.

But, out of all the prog bands I listen to, I'd say Yes is the one that even I sometimes don't have the patience to listen to at times.
