Yep. He was supposed to spend the night and fly out to Houston tomorrow where he was connecting to another flight. With the weather, he decided to head to Houston tonight, to make sure he doesn't miss his connection in the morning. With the weather, his drive was slow, mostly because he started his wind shield wipers before they thawed and they both broke. He drove all the way down here with no wind shield wipers. I met him at the airport and got him to his flight, then drove that thing home, just like that. That was a nice adventure.

Hello everyone- FINALLY. I'm in KY, an hour southwest of Louisville. We got 3 inches of all ice/sleet and then 2 inches of snow. No power for four days, didn't get out of our subdivision until today. The trees were raining ice and branches on Tues. night. Scary shit. Glad to be back online now! Hope everyone stays warm. We were lucky. Louisville won't have the power back on 100% until maybe another week, south of us might be out for 4 weeks because it's so damaged by ice and fallen branches/trees.

It's been a trip hasn't it. Second worst Ice storm of my lifetime. '77/78 was the worst ever. We only lost power for a few minutes and it's been on since. Some neighbors weren't so lucky.

I've never been so excited to be able to get back to work. HA HA Our power keeps flickering here and there, doesn't go off though but I think that's because of surges when people are getting it back on. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Hi Suzanne from KY. My heart goes out to you and all the other states hard hit by this storm. They are calling it the storm of 2009 here in Northeast Arkansas. It is the worst in our history. The area looks like a war zone. We too were hit hard by the storms. They have declaired our area a national disaster area. Over 3,000 power poles snaped to the bases. Trees look like they were blown up by bombs.

I will add pictures later. We had over an inch of ice on the trees. Pines snapped like pencils.

I was lucky. We only lost power for 5 days, I just got electric back. We had to stay elsewhere for the last few nights. No heat and 15 degrees some nights. We were lucky, some of my fellow Arkansans will be out of power for a month they predict. Schools have been closed all week.

One Trumann officer lost his life, he was laying out cones to protect drivers and a tree branch fell on him killing him instantly. Another man killed by a falling tree. It sounded like bombs going off all around us.

Most of my trees in my yard will have to be chopped down. As I said, we were lucky. Sorry for being gone so long..........anyone miss me?

Thank you MG! Your so sweet! I hope all our MR folks will be O.K. during this clean up opperation. Chime in if your in the disaster areas, but makin it alright! :D
Missed talking to you guys!

My parents will probably not have power for a month they say, they live in the country. :(

We were driving down our street tonight, to check on the cats, and check for busted pipes and damage, and I saw the first porch light on going up our street, I cheered. My husband said I was seeing lights from another street, never saw such a beautiful sight.

So many without heat, food, and power. We will try and ask people if they need a place to get warm and fed tomorrow. We just hope our power stays on! Fingers crossed!

I'm glad you're ok, that's some serious stuff. Sorry to hear about the officer. :( That's very sad.

My home town and most of eastern central and south eastern Oklahoma had that happen twice in 5 years. A year later there were still big piles of debris (mostly tree remnants) piled up at the curbs. They still don't have much in the way of trees there. My home town (McAlester) used to be such a pretty town, but now looks so barren.

Go buy a chainsaw now, as they'll be hard to find for a long time.

We're great thanks. My Dad and Sis are still without power and staying at a hotel. We're supposed to hit 45 degrees today, it's 36 now and shit is falling out of the trees like rain and it's sunny as hell outside. Weird looking out the window. It's melting, melting,....... 8)

Glad to hear it is melting, it will make it easier for the men to get the lines up. I hope your folks will get to go home soon. If you get any pics, post them here so we can see.

My folks are staying with my sis who has a generator going for heat and a couple of lamps. They have a gas fireplace at her house. I have offered them to come here to shower, stay, or do laundry now ours has returned.

We have fleets of utility trucks on the road. People have come in from all over to help, if anyone reading this is a lineman who came to assist, your a hero in my book! The hotels are overflowing here. People are taking shelter where they can.

Rick this is the worst storm we have ever had. I feel for the people in Oklahoma as well. I heard it was hit with storms too.
We did not get much by way of snow, just freezing rain and ice.
Our area was so lush and green. Most of the trees were destroyed. :(
