Weed addiction doesn't seem to be as difficult or widespread a problem as alcoholism. I firmly believe alcohol is worse for you than weed. Hell, I KNOW cigarettes are worse than weed. And yet they are legal.

Let the government regulate and tax weed and see a surplus budget.

If it was legal where you could buy it at every supermarket and liquor store, it would be just as bad.

My wife doesn't care for it, but I have been known to take a recreational toke now and then.

Phelps obviously likes it. I think it's sad how he lost his contract with Kelloggs over it. To me it's no different than if he was caught drinking a beer. Alcohol is much more dangerous, but it's legal. Go figure.

The difference is you can drink a beer without getting drunk or even the intention of it. The express purpose of smoking a joint is to get high.

It should only be legal when sitting home alone, in front of your computer, listening to the music of choice..

Other than that, life's better without it.

Time/Place

The same could be said for alcohol. A guy that used to live down the street from us was driving home from an office party 10 miles from here a few years ago, and he was drunk and drove into the wrong lane of traffic on a highway by driving up the offramp. He hit a car head-on with six college kids in it, and they were all killed. He is now in prison for 20 years, and his three young children are fatherless. His wife is in shock. He ruined the lives of eight families, and he didn't even have a criminal record. He was only 23 years old and had a good job at an auto dealership in the finance department.

You don't hear about that happening to someone after doing too many bong hits because it simply doesn't.

8)

Fact, fact, fact.. All the the anti pot folks hate that statistic. You should never drive on anything but oxygen however it has been proven time and time again that horrible things like this NEVER happen with pot. The worst that happens with pot is the crime associated with bad drug deals. With it legal there would be no bad drug deals. Remember when alcohol was prohibited ? It created a criminal empire that resulted in countless mob related deaths and turned many cities in to mob war zones. The canadian border was even hazardous as that was the closest place to get real whiskey. So many died.

Make something that people want illegal and you only force it underground, remove all regulation and create criminal empires. Laws will NEVER stop people from doing things as they never have.. I wonder how much many a year WE spend housing inmates that are jailed for possession of pot ? I bet it is a lot and with the current economic crisis we sure could use so extra cash. Also, the over crowded legal system would get a bit of re-leaf hehe.. As the economy worsens crime goes up. We will need those beds for armed robbers not potheads !!

The fact that pot laws do WAY more harm to people and families than the drug itself if obvious but not in the spotlight as it should be

Gateway drug ?? My ass... THat is called a lame excuse... Everything is a gateway drug if you are prone to caving in to peer pressure. If there ever was a gateway drug it is alcohol.. It's a gateway to waking up with strange woman and having no memory (never will happen on pot), it is a gateway to a terrible hangover and missed work (never gonna happen on pot), it is a gateway to many other things because it lowers your inhibitions and pot does not.

End of rant...

I think your missing the point there....liquid, which is, making pot legal will get everyone out from under the rock they're hiding under smoking the shit and out into the streets and in public doing it, which in turn will create problems as we see with alcohol.

That's why I wax. You think itchy pits are bad - try going for 'downstairs'!
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

How about the 20,000,000 non-potheads who are deadbeats anyway?

The latest craze in Europe is vaporizing weed. It removes the toxins and carcinogens from smoking, making the THC delivery much cleaner. It has begun to become very popular in the USA now too. It removes the respiratory health concerns. Many people medical marijuana users prefer using a vaporizer. It works great!

I'll never smoke weed again. I promise. (Unless my vape breaks down.)

Deadbeats? Are you referring to Deadbeat dads? I'm sure pot had a lot to do with the decision making process of deadbeat dads. And medical marijuana is the biggest fucking bullshit excuse to smoke pot there ever was. I have zero tolerance for individuals who use that excuse cause they want to get high. And in cases where people say they need pot to make themselves happy, I say find something legal to do in order to be happy. There's so much more out there then illigal drugs, try a fucking salad or a bowl of fresh fruit. Maybe a 6am walk down the beach some morning after an full eight hour sleep with plenty of fresh air will fix that unhappy feeling.

I'm thrilled to death that the Europeans are vaporizing weed over there, cause that's just the start, next they will start doing other controlled substances because weed will become useless to them after their bodies build up a tolerance to it's effects. My wife and I went to the movies last weekend with another couple. Right before the movie started they ran a bit with kids saying stupid things they did because they were on pot at the time. One kid said "I drove off leaving my friends to walk home....." cause he was high on pot. We should get some adult ones too, like "I fucked this chick up the ass without a condom on and then found out she was a guy....cause I was high on pot."

You are a tool, if your main beef with weed is the issue of "legality". Learn to think for yourself, not what others tell you! same kind of non-thinkers were advocates of slavery because it was "legal" .Also, the last sentence would be referring to alcohol, not weed

Tried it a few times
It does nothing for me
so why bother...

I like a tame beer or wine buzz with a nice meal...that's my drug...

I'd like to nominate Cheech & Chong for effort & entertainment!

My main beef with weed isn't the legality issue at all. I use the legality issue as an example for extra reasoning purposes. My main beef with weed is what I personally think of it, it's use and how I've seen people get fuck up on it after long term use. And my last sentence is all about weed, not alcohol, cause weed is what the ad in the movie theater was talking about, not alcohol. What part of that entire paragraph was unclear to you?

I also think people are underestimating just how widespread the use of weed is. I sincerely doubt the amount of usage would really increase all that much. It might surge to begin with, but I think it would drop back down to the level it is now.

And I know plenty of people who puff not to "get high" but just to relex.

The only reason pot is illegal

Postby cejudonomas » Thu Sep 09, 2010 8:24 am

The only reason pot is illegal is because it provides tax free income to the elite and powerful including those high in government. The CIA and George Bush are the best examples. Research the Bush family connection to the Opium trade and the dirty politics of the CIA in the golden triangle and Panama. Of course we will never know for sure because of these things kept in secrecy. Fact is we never catch the big king pins that put an end to a cartel, we take one down and quickly another reappears. Perhaps it is the CIA orchestrating who is top kingpin.

Marijuana is quite harmless, you can't overdose on it! you reach a certain high you can never get any more higher but alcholic beverage impairment leads to death. Also the whole argument of Hemp vs Marijuana. Hemp is natures miracle plant with literaly millions of uses but it's illegal too? c'mon, there is not enough THC in Hemp to impair but it makes great soap and textiles. Maybe the oil and gas industry lobby too powerful, if we use hemp we don't need plastic, heck the inventor of the Diesel engine used hemp seed oil. Maybe hemp seed oil can replace gasoline?

So Californians on this board, will you be voting for or against legalization this November. I am still on the fence (leaning towards yes). I am pretty sure that even if it does pass, the federal government will find some way to overturn the people's vote on this one too.
