This is my problem. JSS was so accessible to fans that everyone who was pissed about tapes, suddenly found Neal and Jon innocent victims of S.A. and his conspiring crew members, who must have did this behind the rest of the band's back because they would never allow such treachery to their fanbase.
But yet when JSS was let go, now the tapes are just another reason to bash Neal and Jon. Now, it becomes how badly they treated Steve and how can anyone be a fan of such scumbags. Hypocrisy to the nth. To me the tape thing, while not good wasn't the end of the world like some made it out to be. However if you bash them now about this incident, just remember JSS knew what went down and still toured with them so if you have character issues with any member, you will have to include Mr. Soto too, if only through guilt by association. I don't have issues with him or any of them regarding this but you can't have your cake and eat it too, like some here would like.

But to make a more reasonable comparison... it's sort of like if I had bad dealings with a person, or didn't like the person, but my friend hangs out with that person... is it fair to hold it against my friend who is not involved and hasn't done anything wrong to me? No, its not. JSS showed up after the fact and had a job to do, and did it, so I don't see why he'd be guilty of anything just for associating with some douchebags. Exactly. I'm saying you can't call out the band for this, the tapes if you have been supporting them with JSS and Arnel. If you want to call them out for other things, fine but if the tapes were a nonissue before, they can't become an issue now.

I don't know who was against it, but I feel almost certain Neal would have been for it and probably came up with the idea and I don't believe Deen would have objected b/c he doesn't like being off the road and needs the money more than they do. And I agree Steve Augeri didn't have enough backbone to say no and retire or insist they take time off. So all were guilty.

I've had the album playing on repeat in my car now for a week or so. Personally, I think it's one o the best 'rock' albums I've heard in ages. I'd put it alongside Rush's 'Snakes and Arrows' and Thunder's 'Bang' as my favourite three albums released in the past couple of years. Anybody expecting a waterered down version of Journey is going to be disappointed but for me it's a perfect blend of originality, melody, rhythm and power (yes, it's actually quite heavy in places). I can't wait so see more of this stuff played live.

I'm fairly certain that Jeff only "knew what went down" because he was asked to step into the band, when it became apparent that Augeri simply wasn't able to sing. It's not like he was part of the complete fraud committed on Journey fans. In fact, he was the only one not culpable, AT ALL! I never thought Jeff was a great fit for Journey, but to lump him in to the complete fiasco that Augeri, Schon, Cain, Valory, and Castronovo were a part of is absurd and simply not remotely fair!
