OT - Radford / Place Vendome

Postby Memorex » Sat Feb 21, 2009 4:39 pm

I discovered these two bands tonight, one by accident, and am thrilled to death. I've been so bored with music lately. I feel like I can sink my teeth into this stuff. Any fans out there?

I discovered Radford by searching for the original band that wrote and performed the song "Fly", covered by John Waite. Such a good song, I had to hear the original. The search was not as easy as you'd think. Unfortunately, I cannot find it available for purchase anywhere. But I bought one of their albums (Sleepwalker). Very mature writing, but rockin.

As far as Place Vendome - Someone had given me their first CD and I never listened to it (after years) until tonight. Very catchy melodic rock - great singer (formerly of Helloween). I notice Andrew had a Frontiers page up for them, so obviously I am late to the table on this one. I bought their brand new album "Streets of Fire" tonight and it's great. Most of it is catchy upon first listen.

Anyway - so stoked that I thought I'd share.

I first heard PV on StickManRadio.com. Went out and bought the album straight away. I really really like the first album...always where I wanted Journey to go.

Listened to the album probably a thousand times and just about the only thing I dislike is the singers proununciation of 'consequences' in one of the best songs. (He says it kahn-se-quenches. Bugs the crap outta me.)

Don't have the new album yet...but I will shortly.

later~

I hear Steve Overland, Queensryche, Joe Lynn Turner, maybe Dio. Something about it is very familiar.
