Holy shit. What a double bill. I'm not much of a GnR fan, but they do have a few songs I like. I know they have a huge following.

I was of the original line up, but GNR w/out Slash... nah. I see more of GNR at a Camp Freddy show than I would this. Axl alone doesn't cut it for me. But still... helluva double hit.

Does anyone else find Axl Rose's voice obnoxious? I recognize he's a tenor, but unlike Steve Perry, there's something just grating about his voice.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

That's affirmative. It fits some songs, like "Welcome to the Jungle", very well, but not others, like "Patience".

"Welcome to the Jungle" is okay. "Sweet Child O' Mine" is a little better and I try to condition myself to like it; it's well written, Slash delivered a beautiful opening riff, and Axl has the technical goods. But there's some annoying quality about his voice that conjures the image of Geddy Lee.

As do I. In fact, that's unfair to Geddy Lee. His voice is slightly obnoxious in that it's so high pitched. But unlike Rose, he's not shrieking like a banshee or whiny.

I rather liked his vocals on "Time Stand Still." But that was when he was exploring his lower end tenor/baritone range. I also enjoyed "Limelight." Two of my very favorites.

Neil Peart is not only a badass drummer but a truly luminous lyricist.

If that! And please, who's gonna headline? The obvious answer it VH, but do you really think Axl's ego will allow him it "open" for another artist? Plus the fact that he'd pull his typical tardy shit one time and Eddie and Dave would put the kibosh on that shit real quick!
Nope, I just don't see it...

I have to agree with you on this one Gideon. IMO Axl Rose has one of the most annoying voices in rock. I can't stand the guy. G & R had some good songs, but I couldn't listen to them. Like finger nails on a blackboard. Eeech! :x I've heard cats screwing that sounded better. :x

I'll go see it. I've got Boz Scaggs and Celtic Woman on my spring show list. Looking for Pat Benatar and Moody Blues later this year. Journey is off my calender until their next release, unless WOM, Patiently and WCTNGOF somehow how make it into the setlist and even then, it's iffy. I dont think I can stomach DSB or OA anymore.
Ticket prices are going to tell the tale this year for sure.

I saw Boz last year at the Moondance Jam. He puts on a great show, and his voice sounds just the same all these years later. He has an 8-piece band; it's a very jazzy/bluesy show.
