I don't where you people get this stuff....Look, take away the ethnicity of Arnel, and they make squat. Plain and simple. If they hired a mexican singer they'd get a HUGE contingent of Spanish speaking concert-goers....To the american music listening public, Journey IS irrelevant. Excluding the loons, and the diehards, Journey is a musical non-factor. Hate to burst your bubble, Journey/Survivor, Gideon.....etc.

Take away Pinoy nation and we'd be asking if the album sold over 75, 000 copies....

I went to 8 shows last year. I'd say that Pinoys were 10% of the crowd at the most.

Wrong again, but at least you're consistent! I saw the vast majority of people react to the Revelation songs live by applauding the intros of the songs. People knew the songs because they bought the album! You're another dope that reads over at Arnel's site how a handful of people bought 5-10 copies to ship "home" and thinks everyone did that. I'd say that well over 80% of Filipinos in the U.S. have no idea who Arnel even is. You're a typical excuse maker.

WRONG....I've never been to Arnel's site. And your figure is also wrong.

10% of the crowd, and 75% of the Cd purchasers.....

If Boston hired a Welsh singer, you better believe that close to 80% WOULD know who the singer was.......you're a dope.

Have you been drinking? That comment sounds a little bitter. It's so untrue. The Filipinos make up a small portion of concert-goers in most states. American Journey fans embraced Arnel and bought the CD. I hate to burst your bubble.

Not a fan either, but for fun I looked at RIAA. Something like 4 pages of Gold an Platinum certifications in the last 18 years including a bunch of singles post-1992.

Selective vision is fucking epidemic around here, lol.

For the record, nowhere did I state "Journey is relevant." I do think "relevant" is a subjective term, though it can be agreed that they only have a fraction of success they once enjoyed. I think they have a solid lineup with an incredible vocalist and without the egomaniac who butchered their comeback; all in all, a phenomenal state of affairs.

And, like it or not, they had a hugely successful tour. You can't take that away, S2M, no matter how much you'd like to try.

Honestly, it sounded like you were making excuses. Journey has always been a commercial rock band (yes, even with Perry) and capitalized on whatever they could to get their name out there. Journey managed to nail a hugely successful tour with their third, fourth, or fifth (depending on how you count) singer over two decades past their heyday. This coming from a band that was never perceived as "cool" and was reviled by critics. Despite all these factors working against them, they received both great acclaim and media attention.

On the other hand, it is equally stupid to say that Journey is "lulz teh uber!!1!" based on the sheer strength of Arnel's vocals. Not the case at all.

The bottom line is that they are relevant, regardless of how their relevant.

They have remained relevant since the Infinity album came out, they never stopped being relevant at any time. They still sell way too many tickets and albums to not be relevant. Not every band has to sell as many tickets and albums as say Madonna to be relevant.

Hey mine is the correct native way of spelling it ,,, youre is just some brittish/austrailan, with a bit of scottish added to it. :)

Er, no, the native way of spelling it is Cymraeg. 'Wales' derives from the Saxon word 'waelas' meaning 'foreigner'. Which is bloody cheek, all things considered
Seriously, though - the only time the Welsh spell it as 'Welch' any more is in relation to The Welch Regiment and the Royal Welch Fusiliers, neither of which exist anymore. 'Welch' is an archaic spelling that hasn't been in common use in 200 years.

But I'm puzzled as to where you got the idea that there is any scottish in my ancestry. And yes, my sarcasm comes with statistics.

That was a classy thing for Journey and management to do (or whomever did it). I'm not surprised. Congrats to Jeremey.

After the record company gets the go ahead from the RIAA, they (Nomota) go to a licensed distributor and get the awards done up in the quantity they want. So Nomato is the one that sent it to Jeremey, I'm thinking.
I doubt they sent one to Perry, but as a statistic, he gets to count it also, according to the RIAA, as he is a songwriter on some of the material. Who knows though, Nomato might have sent him one anyway, just as a friendly gesture or to say "Look what we did".

I don't think the production team for the DVD gets one though as it was considered a bonus disc and not a stand alone product, hence no DVD 5X Platinum award even though it moved over 500,000 copies as part of the Revelation package.
