Indeed. He doesn't need to go for the sagging pants look or opt for a rap persona, but modern R&B is right up his alley. Steve Perry featuring Usher. Or Steve Perry featuring Kanye West.

Kanye West? Yikes!
Maybe Mary J. Blige, or maybe even Macy Gray...
"Slowjamz" or R&B is the best outlet, I think, for him. Kanye could help him do that.
...but Kanye's not really a singer, he's a rapper. I think his latest release features him "singing", but from my understanding it required quite a bit a "studio magic" to correct a host of flaws regarding pitch etc. No, Gideon. That would throwing pearls before swine. Not a good match up, IMHO.
808s and Heartbreak. And I sincerely hope you're not using rumors of "studio magic" as a standard for Kanye West. Or haven't you heard the same thing about Steve Perry and Trial By Fire?
Edit: For the record, a lot of R&B songs and slow jams use rap artists. Kanye has the appeal and creativity to make a good match up with him, in my opinion. He would likely assume the rap role next to Perry's more classically trained singing, but I still think it could yield great music.
