OT: New Bon Jovi Documentary

Postby Peartree12249 » Wed Apr 08, 2009 12:34 pm

Attention all you Bon Jovi fans. I just came across this news release today. Too bad Journey doesn't garner the same attention.

The New York festival (April 22-May 3) will screen what is described as a work-in-progress documentary about Jon Bon Jovi . The previously unknown picture, titled "When We Were Beautiful," follows the musician and his band on their 2008 Lost Highway world tour.

The Phil Griffin-directed movie will screen as the festival's centerpiece presentation on April 29, with another pair of screenings scheduled over the following three days.

Described as a celebration of the quarter-century career of the chart-topping act, the film "susses out the secrets behind this legendary band's determined and charismatic leader Jon Bon Jovi" and his band members, the festival said.

Bon Jovi has enjoyed unusual staying power in American pop culture . The band came to prominence in the mid-1980s by creating a type of music that made the more aggressive style of rock at that time palatable to mainstream audiences; it has been resurgent this decade with several top-selling albums.
Grammar, the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit.

Blonde Jovi is now Blonde Jersey.

Bon Jovi is threatening to sue cover bands. What could be worse you ask? Well we'll tell you. The guitar player in Blonde Jovi has perhaps the best stage name in the world. Her name is Bitchy Sambora. We can only hope that Richie Sambora doesn't sue for this to end. That would be a travesty like no other.

Bon Jovi appears to have sunk to a new low - suing a covers band.

A legal letter from the law firm Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman to the girl group Blonde Jovi has surfaced and states, “It has recently come to our attention that your band is using the mark and name BLONDE JOVI in connection with live musical performances; more specifically, a Bon Jovi tribute band. Our investigation also uncovered that you are using BJP’s “Heart and Dagger” Logo trademark prominently on your website. Unfortunately, and despite the fact that our client appreciates the reverence that your band pays tribute to Bon Jovi, as a tribute band, our client nevertheless is charged with the duty of enforcing its trademark rights. In this regard, BJP cannot allow your band to use the mark and name BLONDE JOVI (or any other BJP trademarks), as such use creates a likelihood of confusion with our client, and capitalizes on the goodwill and reputation of its well-known marks”.

Is Jon Bon Jovi for real or does he well and truly have his head stuck up his own arse?

A girl-group playing in tiny venues who are paying homage to their heroes “creates a likelihood of confusion” with one of the biggest rock bands in the world.

This is arrogance at its greatest. Bon Jovi should be ashamed of themselves for putting their pitbull lawyers onto a group who obviously adore the band.

“In view of the above, we demand, on behalf of our client, that you and your band immediately (i) cease and desist any and all further use of the mark and name BLONDE JOVI, or any other mark or name similar to our client’s BON JOVI mark, in any manner”.

This line cracked me up. “We have no objection to your use of the word BLONDE as long as it is not used in combination with JOVI”.

If this is the attitude of Bon Jovi a cease and desist is definitely in order. Fans should cease and desist listening to their music, cease and desist buying their music and cease and desist going to their concerts.

The girls will appear at "Paladinos" in Tarzana Calif. this coming week April 10th 2009.

I never understood how Bon Jovi became more popular than Journey. Journey has been around alot longer, Perry can blow John out of the water as far as vocals, and personally I think Journey has better songs. I guess the huge thing Bon Jovi has going for them is they can manage to keep the band together and keep putting out album after album. Journey breaking up and then getting back together a few times didnt help them any, thats for sure.

Journey was going into a more pop oriented mode when the market was switching to the heavier sounds of hair bands. Journey was writing lyrics about Suzanne on the movie screen, picture postcards and being alright without you, while Bon Jovi was talking about racing cars, sixpacks, losing stuff in back seats, working on the docks and living on prayers.
If you're a young music listener, which one are you going to relate to more?

I was going to put Cain's name but I would probably get people saying that Perry threatened death to his cat if he didn't write those particular lyrics.

The more I hear about Bon Jovi.....from this to the alleged conspiracy of them being in cahoots with Ticketmaster and buying the premiere seats and selling them for outrageous prices........the less I like them and the less respect I have for them.

Youtube is working with Viacom and major labels to have a sister site that will have all the old Music videos that used to be on MTV and TOTP, plus any other sponsored footage from concerts and what not. If it goes through, I think all the covers and and bootleg concert videos will be yanked in one fell swoop. I think Youtube is already trying to get ahead of the game by taking action against the unauthorized videos that always end up on the front page because of massive web hits. Even Cadbury, a billion dollar company got slammed for using "In the Air tonight" without permission, so it's not just the little guy getting hit.

Youtube, not the uploader is the one getting hit with lawsuits and Cease and Desist letters so they have no choice but to protect themselves. A lot of times it's the label pushing the case and the actual artist might not even be aware of the actions, as very few artists actually own their music outright.
